The device separates in the middle - a sliding sprung collar keeps it locked together. The male end goes to the BBQ rubber pipe and the other female end to a piece of pipe attached to the regulator on the gas bottle. The male end plugs into the female end of the van gas supply or the female end on the gas bottle. The female end has a valve that only opens when the male end is pushed in so no gas escapes when the bits are separated if you haven't closed the gas supply on the van or the bottle.

I am not sure if this is clear but easy to understand if you actually see one in the metal.

Re: Camping Gaz 907 Refills

I’ve bought 63 litres of LPG since Jan 3rd. The tanks are still about 75% full. Paid 69.9p / litre.
Mainly used for cooking and fridge + heating when off mains. I accidentally left the heating on gas for a week in the winter!
I also use gas + electric when particularly cold.

And the good news! I went to the place where I purchased the previous Gaz refill and only had to pay £36.99!

Although the fuel to get to Cornwall means it was less of a saving ;-)

That's an interesting way of looking at it. My 907 lasts 3-4 months
full-time in my camper, so gas is costing me about £10 a month. I
wonder how that compares with other people's gas costs - either with
refillings or replacemen cylinders.

I was going to post my experiences of the 75L refillable tank on our Hymer Tramp. Not only was it so convenient, it was remarkably cheap. I think there may be postings from the noughties when I had bought auto-gas for as little as 7P/L. Mind you, the Bristol Calor Gas depot is just round the corner from home and as well as buying bulk, I could also get a VAT domestic discount.

I have dumped my book-marked LPG station finder, but I did find this website and there are similar for Europe. http://www.go-autogas.com.

And I must mention the other big advantage of having a bulk tank. The empty gas locker was the perfect size for my fold-up Brompton bike and left room for the BBQ and its flammable starter fluid.

gas is costing me about £10 a month. I
wonder how that compares with other people's gas costs - either with
refillings or replacemen cylinders.

We use LPG in a large tank under the van. My records show that we spent about £145 (which equates to roughly 200 litres) in a period when we spent 600 nights in the van. The gas was used for running a 3-way fridge for quite a large proportion of the time as well as for cooking. I imagine that cooking probably cost less than £75. £75 in 600 days/nights equates very roughly to £3.75 per month.

per year investment.
That's an interesting way of looking at it. My 907 lasts 3-4 months
full-time in my camper, so gas is costing me about £10 a month. I
wonder how that compares with other people's gas costs - either with
refillings or replacemen cylinders.

Re: Camping Gaz 907 Refills

I'm Bazbro

I've a plug-in gas point on the side of my 'van and a bbq with a long hose.  I'd like to use the bbq in the garden, etc., from a Gaz bottle I have.  Does anyone know of a compatible 'line' connector that goes on the bottle, that can be used with the plug-in piece please?

Might just bite the bullet and consider the replacement Gaz cylinder as £10 per year investment. It means the bbq can be used as a second unit at home should a multitude descend on us or the gas on the main bbq runs out!

Neill,

Thanks - that’s handy information and I shall give it some thought.

Might put the £39 towards a tee-off point in the gas locker and a long gas line.

Yes - probably was over 3 years - just seems ridiculously expensive having spent around £16 for 23 litres for the van Gaslow system.

But, like Max, I don’t always want the bbq in the same place - particularly in a wind.
