Hi The startes motor on a type 2 is located under the rear wheel arch
(honest) off side if i remembe rightly

Correct, Martin. Turning the engine in its normal direction will usually
release a jammed Bendix. If the starter can be located (I'm hanged if I
know
where mine is.) the shaft sometimes ends in a small square section that
can
be turned with a spanner.
