Paddles fall out too easily
Is there a good way people use to keep the paddles from falling out so easily? I find myself accidentally popping them off even during keying.
Thanks, Andre

I agree. I was doing a presentation to my club on learning cw and brought the morserino 32 to show and as people played with it the paddles kept loosening. I’d hate to glue them. Rick, W2JAZ --

I'am surprised again: are there only builders with two left hands .... .. ? the paddles will be hold via the spring contacts - what lies closer to bend this contacts a bit more so that the holding force will be increased ? And when that is not enough: a long screw through the board - between the paddels and above the paddles a cross board... that helps against the biggest sausage fingers .... .. By the way: my paddles working with gentle'st touch - if there is no force - nothing happens. - cause and effect. I think a vy good way would be to explain peoples what are "TOUCH"-paddles and how they work. When the candidates want to squeez, than an external vibro or mfj may be the first choice. hpe this hints helps a bit. 73 Juergen DL4KE nnnn Am 24.11.2019 um 15:35 schrieb Andre -

If you're knocking the capacitive paddles out of their socket, your going to need a pretty heavy key if you're going to avoid slapping it round your desk. A good guide to the right pressure to use is here:
Of course, some people have a naturally more physical style that is still very fast, but note how the paddle needs to be bolted down in this video:
The Morserino 32 paddles were not developed with that kind of keying in mind, sorry.

I really didn’t expect a debate. You’d think I insulted someone’s mother. Any downward pressure on the paddles, even at an slight angle while keying, starts to pull the paddles out. it doesn’t have anything to do with squeezing force during operation.

They're capacitive touch paddles and as such, require a gentle touch. Simple. If you prefer a more mechanical feel, then connect a mechanical paddle. Simple also...

As Chris said, they require really just a very slight touch, and you should try not to slap them, like you might a mechanical paddle.

If you cannot resist slapping (no, I’m not going into that now…), try to wedge a small piece of rather stiff foam (about 4 mm thick - 1/6 in) between the paddles and the acrylic top plate, see the picture. This should take care of that…. 73 Willi OE1WKL

However hard I touch them they don't fall out. Did the thickness of the PCB-material change during production? Mine are 1.6mm thick. Cheers to y'all and 73 -- Eike Lantzsch ZP6CGE

Mine fell out too, and I’ve actually lost one while transporting it back and forth between the vehicle.

I hope I’ll be able to purchase spare paddles on my next Morserino purchase. Craig

No change in production whatsoever, material is 1.6 mm.

Should your paddles get lost: you can order a pair of spares, 8€ which includes shipping. 73 Willi Von meinem Mobiltelefon gesendet

Wow…. a LOT of talk over a problem that is so easily solved.
I lost a paddle during transport so I found a nice, wooden cigar box that was just big enough for the Morserino. Transport lose solved.
As for the paddles working themselves out of the socket. A pencil erasure and a sharp knife is all that is needed to fix the “issue”.
Cut off a slice of eraser just thick enough to insert between the top “cover” and the top of the paddles.
Happy paddling…

I like the eraser idea slightly better than the foam idea. Thanks for the concept... I wouldn’t have thought of that.
