V. 1.2 is now on GitHub, and you can update your Morserino-32 to it. Of course, the user manual has also been updated accordingly.

What has changed?


Bug fixes and Improvements:

Modified: Volume Control. Depending on the impedance of the headphones used, the volume was generally too loud, even on the lowest setting. This has been modified, so that the lower 4 settings are better suited for headphone use and are significantly lower in volume. Downside is that the quality of the tone at these low volumes ( = amount of harmonics) is different from the higher volume levels.
Minor changes to Iambic B timings in connections with the latency parameter (probably not noticeable - let me know if you detect something unusual or uncomfortable)
New features:

Koch Sequence: the sequence of letters through the Koch lessons the M32 is using is compatible with the program „Just Lean Morse Code“ (JLMC). As some users also train with „Learn CW On-line“ (LCWO), there I now an option in the parameters to use the same sequence with the M32. In both cases there are additional characters at the end, because Morserino-32 teaches you 50 different characters, while LCWO has 41 and JLMC has 44 characters.
Time Out now configurable: There is now a parameter „Time Out“, which can be set to „No Timeout“, „5 min“, „10 min“ or „15 min“. Switching time out off is particularly helpful when running from an external power supply, so that saving battery power is not an issue.
New parameter „Quick Start“: If you set this parameter to „ON“ (default is „OFF“), the Morserino-32 will immediately execute the modus last selected before shutdown, and will not stay in the menu selection. This is helpful if you normally always start with the same menu selection (e.g. if you always start in modus Echo Trainer, or if you always start in modus CW Keyer).
The next batch of kits - and price goes down
Shipping kits will resume around April 25, I hope. A delivery of PCBs has been delayed a bit, but if customs is not contributing to an additional delay I should get it immediately after Easter. So if you ordered between around 18th of March and end of March, your waiting time is about a week to 10 days longer than originally expected - I apologize for that.
But I have good news for you too (and for those who still consider ordering a Morserino-32): The price is coming down a bit, and I will now offer the kit at a price that includes shipping world-wide: 85€ or 99 US$. This is particularly beneficial for everyone outside Europe.
This was possible by ordering now higher volumes, and by not packing a USB cable into the kit anymore: as this has become a household item pretty much everywhere, or can be obtained at very low cost locally, I do not think that importing and redistributing a cable would create a huge benefit. This brings the weight of the package down a bit, and as my tariff is also depending on weight, I can also save a few cents.
What I started adding to the kit is a 2mm hex wrench, as this might not be a common tool in the parts of the world that are not metric.

Solltest du zwischen etwa 18.März und Ende März bestellt haben, wird sich die Lieferung also um etwa 7 - 10 Tage verzögern, wofür ich mich entschuldigen möchte.
Aber es gibt auch gute Neuigkeiten (auch für die, die noch keinen Morserino-32 bestellt haben): Der Bausatz wird ein kleines bisschen billiger, und ich offeriere den Bausatz nun zu einem Preis, der weltweiten Versand inkludiert: 85€ bzw. 99 US$. Dies bringt vor allem für Besteller außerhalb Europas einen deutlichen Vorteil.
Möglich wurde dies einerseits durch die größeren Mengen, die ich nun jeweils bestelle, aber auch dadurch, dass ich kein USB Kable mehr beilege: das vermindert auch ein wenig das Gewicht, welches auch in den Versandtarif eingeht.

As some users also train with „Learn CW On-line“ (LCWO), there I now an option in the parameters to use the same sequence with the M32. In both cases there are additional characters at the end, because Morserino-32 teaches you 50 different characters, while LCWO has 41 and JLMC has 44 characters.
Time Out now configurable: There is now a parameter „Time Out“, which can be set to „No Timeout“, „5 min“, „10 min“ or „15 min“. Switching time out off is particularly helpful when running from an external power supply, so that saving battery power is not an issue.
New parameter „Quick Start“: If you set this parameter to „ON“ (default is „OFF“), the Morserino-32 will immediately execute the modus last selected before shutdown, and will not stay in the menu selection. This is helpful if you normally always start with the same menu selection (e.g. if you always start in modus Echo Trainer, or if you always start in modus CW Keyer).
The next batch of kits - and price goes down
Shipping kits will resume around April 25, I hope. A delivery of PCBs has been delayed a bit, but if customs is not contributing to an additional delay I should get it immediately after Easter. So if you ordered between around 18th of March and end of March, your waiting time is about a week to 10 days longer than originally expected - I apologize for that.
But I have good news for you too (and for those who still consider ordering a Morserino-32): The price is coming down a bit, and I will now offer the kit at a price that includes shipping world-wide: 85€ or 99 US$. This is particularly beneficial for everyone outside Europe.
This was possible by ordering now higher volumes, and by not packing a USB cable into the kit anymore: as this has become a household item pretty much everywhere, or can be obtained at very low cost locally, I do not think that importing and redistributing a cable would create a huge benefit. This brings the weight of the package down a bit, and as my tariff is also depending on weight, I can also save a few cents.
What I started adding to the kit is a 2mm hex wrench, as this might not be a common tool in the parts of the world that are not metric.

V. 1.2 steht nun auf GitHub bereit, und du kannst deinen Morserino-32 auf diese Version updaten. Natürlich wurde auch das Benutzerhandbuch entsprechend angepasst.

Was hat sich geändert?

Fehlerbehebungen und Verbesserungen:

Lautstärkeregelung. Bei machen Kopfhörern war die Lautstärke zu groß, auch bei niedrigster Einstellung. Die unteren 4 Stufen wurden nun so angepasst, dass sie deutlich leiser sind. Nachteil dabei ist, dass sich die Tonqualität auch ändert (mehr Oberwellen).
geringfügige Änderungen im Timing des Iambic Modus in Kombination mit der Latency Einstellung (dies sollte sich nicht merkbar auswirken, falls es doch zu ungewöhnlichen Effekten führt, verständige mich bitte!).
Neue Features:
Reihenfolge der Zeichen im Koch-Modus: Normalerweise benutzt der M32 eine Reihenfolge die mit "Just Learn Morse Code" (JLMC) kompatibel ist. Da manche Benutzer auch mit "LCWO" (Learn CW Online) arbeiten, das eine geringfügig andere Reihenfolge benutzt, gibt es nun einen Parameter, mit dem man zwischen diesen beiden Reihenfolgen umschalten kann. In jedem Fall gibt es im M32 noch ein paar zusätzliche Zeichen am Ende der Reihe (M32 hat 50 Zeichen, LCWO 41 und JLMC 44).
Das "Time Out" (nach der sich der M32 selbst in Tiefschlaf versetzt) ist nun über einen neuen Parameter konfigurierbar, und zwar auf "No timeout" (kein Abschalten), 5 min, 10 min oder 15 min. Abschalten des Timeouts ist vor allem beim Betrieb an einer USB Stromquelle interessant, da man da ja nicht die Batterie schonen muss.

Die nächsten Bausätze - und: Preissenkung
Die nächsten Bausätze werden etwa ab dem 25. April ausgeliefert. Die Lieferung weiterer Platinen durch den Lieferanten hat sich um eine gute Woche verzögert, aber ich sollte sie (falls der Zoll mitspielt) unmittelbar nach Ostern in Händen halten. Solltest du zwischen etwa 18.März und Ende März bestellt haben, wird sich die Lieferung also um etwa 7 - 10 Tage verzögern, wofür ich mich entschuldigen möchte.
Aber es gibt auch gute Neuigkeiten (auch für die, die noch keinen Morserino-32 bestellt haben): Der Bausatz wird ein kleines bisschen billiger, und ich offeriere den Bausatz nun zu einem Preis, der weltweiten Versand inkludiert: 85€ bzw. 99 US$. Dies bringt vor allem für Besteller außerhalb Europas einen deutlichen Vorteil.
Möglich wurde dies einerseits durch die größeren Mengen, die ich nun jeweils bestelle, aber auch dadurch, dass ich kein USB Kable mehr beilege: das vermindert auch ein wenig das Gewicht, welches auch in den Versandtarif eingeht.

In post 185 above Willi says that the binary file size is about 920kB. The Binary files I have downloaded from Github are only 57kB in size. I can use the Firmware upload process but on restart it says I am still on Version 1.0. I don't think I have the complete or correct file.

Help would be appreciated if you know what I might be doing wrong.

That's an incomplete download, Gary. As it seems some users are experiencing this, I try to understand how this happens. How did you download the binary (please also describe OS platform and browser and anything else that might shed a light...)
