Communist thinking about the environment

Greg Godels just posted an article, "Clinging to the Anthropocene," (
https://zzs-blg.blogspot.com/2022/09/clinging-to-anthropocene.html ). It gives a concise statement of communist thinking about the environment.

Godels puts class analysis to good use, as a communist commentator should always strive to do.

More than most controversial issues, the environmental problem - global warming in particular - requires attention to the back and forth of class interests and our human powers of production, the productive forces.

As Godels says, only socialism can resolve the environmental crisis once and for all. It is also the case that fixing global warming will require what can crudely be called technological fixes. On one hand, socialist politics alone will not do it. On the other hand, technological marvels within capitalism will not do it. How socialism and technological effort can and must go together should be laid out as concretely as possible. From year to year as the disasters of global warming rain down on us, this connection will come into clearer view. In fact, Godels might be ready to follow up his article with another one along this line.

For now, be sure to read his post. He prepares us for a likely propaganda blitz around a forthcoming book, Kohei Saito's Capital and the Anthropocene.
