Ontario Premier Doug Ford has agreed to withdraw controversial legislation which imposed a contract on education workers, members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees. It invoked the “notwithstanding clause’ of Canada’s constitution to set aside the right to strike.
I just saw a fragment of the union press conference. The president of CUPE cited a roll call of public and private sector unions that had rallied to support CUPE.
