The Ukrainian Fascist Azov use the slogan "Ukraine Above All" as well as the early Cossack version "Glory to Ukraine"
This slogan evokes in me a familial memory from the late 19th c. pogroms in Kyve when Jews in my family were burned to death in their synagogue. Only handful of my ancestors escaped to record the gruesome terror of what "Glory to Ukraine" has historically meant. I have the original typewritten family history.
From the slogans origins in the Khmelnytsky rebellion https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khmelnytsky_Uprising to the fascist Stepan Bandera's incorporation of it (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slava_Ukraini) as the official Slogan of the OUN-B in 1941 "Glory to our Hero's Glory to Ukraine" Has been an anti-semitic Christian Nationalist slogan, it evolved into an anti-Soviet slogan and today has been mainstreamed.
For how fascist slogans, ideas and imagery have been mainstreamed in Ukraine, I refer readers to Michael Colborne's book published in 2021 entitled From the Fires of War: Ukraine's Azov movement and the Global Far Right
Chapter 7 "The Future of Azov" recounts a tale from August 2021 when fascists are released from jail after they had attacked and destroyed a 'Soviet Style' art installation (that was supposed to be part of the official Independence day celebration. This art was on the street leading from Maidan up towards the Ukrainian Parliament.
"Biletsky stood with a microphone in hand. “Glory to Ukraine,” he
said, sounding a bit tired as he gave a quick, almost perfunctory
Azov fist-from-the-chest salute. Biletsky condemned the inclusion
of items from the Soviet era like refrigerators and mock 1970s-vintage apartments as part of an art installation—..."
And from the same book
"It’s hard not to see outlines of Azov in this definition, particularly in the way that the nation is the highest priority—like in the “Ukraine above all!” slogan for National Corps and partners’ 2019 parliamentary election campaign".
The National Corps is the political party wing of the Azov movement, which has many front groups and fringe associations. The the author shows the Azov movement is much larger and extends much deeper into the mainstream than the Azov Regiment (which many social imperialists dismiss as a mere 1000 active troops incorporated into and subordinated to the state) and the votes garnered by the National Corp suggests.

And I once believed I’d witnessed the height of stupidity and jingoism previously.
It only gets more blind foolish and obstinate over time.
That is vile.
Fascism is de rigueur nowadays it appears.

Relieved to see that someone on this list is aware of this simple matter of fact.

Fascism is like the malignant cells in our bodies. Sleeping now but always on the alert for an opening. If we read Victor Grossman's memoir on his life in the GDR, we see clearly that the fascists never completely lost power in the FRG and in fact were often in positions of great authority, in the government, in the military, and in the largest German corporations. The US brought many Nazis and Nazi sympathizers to the US, such as Werner von Braun. Everywhere in the capitalist world, fascists continue to ply their trade of hatred and violence. In the US, Steve Bannon is a follower of some of these who lived or are living in Europe. In South America, not a few countries were polluted with fascists, who have come to state power more than a few times. So the fact that they are alive and well in Ukraine (and in Russia as well) is really not a surprise. I wouldn't doubt, though others might have evidence that I do not), that like the Catholic Church under Pius XII, the Orthodox Church and the the Byzantine Catholic Church have not a few priests sympathetic to fascism. I though that Putin showed himself as anything but an heir to the best of the Soviet Union (and I don't mean Stalin) when he resurrected the putrid Orthodox Church.
