Israel has condemned Russia’s war against Ukraine but not to the point of joining the West’s sanctions campaign. Israel apparently fears provoking the ire of Mr. Putin, compromising the economic ties between the two countries and – crucially – the opportunity to bomb Iranian targets in Syria, whose airspace is controlled by Russia.
