Apparently you are privileged and do not have to endure religious fanatics and their oppression.
Are you really ignoring the violence carried out in various forms against those viewed as "sinful" and "different" and not conforming?
And if not - why are you promoting what the oppressed always hear when they express their righteous anger?
If you choose to not want to be angry, or actively side against the religious fanatics oppression -
could you allow us who are under such attacks our whole lives - not having to hear it is our anger that you state "should" not be harsh.

I felt somewhat similar to you long ago, having been raised Catholic. But I never was really a believer, despite being an altar boy and going weekly for half my life, so I didn't have that big of a "break". I've found that people who were really committed
and felt really betrayed when it all became clear to them have years of harsh anti-religious views that later mellow, as they should.
