ic-705 and loop controler

Pierre Martel

Hi all I have a friend that is trying to make his loop controler work with his ic-705

He use a BT to CI-V adaptor and he can tune the radio and the tuner will follow. But when he try to start a tune from the tuner the 705 with start a tuning sequence.

After talking with the BT adaptor he told my friend that the ci-v code for ptt-tune from the 705 is 0048 and not 0038 as in older icom radio.

Anyone seen that and know where to look for to add this code to the ci-v protocol detection of the controler?

Tks.

Hi Piere!

I think this is the hard way to do it.

Why not use a USB Host Controller board:

The IC-705 has a micro USB connector on the right side panel.

USB is TTL level.

The FW v4.10 of the Loopcotroller has support for the IC-705.

The only problem is that the USB connector in the IC-705 offers TWO virtual USB ports to a connected PC:

USB-port A:   Named: IC-705 Serial Port A (CI-V)
USB-port B:   Named: IC-705 Serial Port B (USBdata)

that host board will see both two ‘ports’, of which port A is what the MLA controller board is interested in only.

Salut Pierre,

For all, I am the supplier of the Bluetooth to CI-V interface (VE2DX.COM CT17B-6BT and CT17B-7DM) that Pierre is talking about in his post.

I have another TF3LJ Loop controller user in Germany with the same issue, been trying to look through the code for the initiation of the TUNE button to see how it is talking to the CI-V (ICOM Radio) but having a bit of a hard time, not being a programmer.

Also tried to reach TF3LJ/VE2LJX directly to seek his help at this time without any luck, can you tell me where you got the unit and confirm what firmware version you are using.
