During my Denver days (1972-77), I recall that Ma Bell was playing with the idea of assigning one prefix to two rate centers. They cut in 303-668 (now 970-668) with Copper Mountain as one of its rate centers. I do not recall the other one (but probably Dillon). There was a particular condition for doing this, which I do not recall. In any case, I notice now that Copper Mountain is now contained within Dillon, and I have not heard of any other instances of two rate centers within one prefix. Did Ma Bell abandon the idea early on as impractical?
