As per title FLDigi crashes on start with FLrig 1.4.7.50
I was on an earlier version of Fldig 4.1.20i, with the latest alpha of FLRig
I have upgraded Fldigi to 4.1.23, robooted and updates win 10 with no change
Nothing is in the windows event logs, I cleared them and ran FLDigi again nothing in the logs
I can start and run FLDigi so long as FLRig is not running, if I then start FLRig a second or so later FLDigi crashes
Any clues what to look for next or logs I can check greatly recieved
Thanks

Ok, updated both FLDigi and FLRig to latest versions
Now the interesting bit
I have two rigs with different port numbers (Xiegu G90 on default port 12345) (Yaesu FT991a on port 12346)
FLDigi will connect and run to the G90 on default port but will not connect to the 991a on port 12346, I will do some more testing later in the week to see if I can narrow it down further
Prior to upgrading FLRig to 1.4.5 it would connect to both without issues

Peter,
Are you also updating the xmlrpc port in fldigi rig control when you update it in flrig?

Hmmm... Works fine here. Changed in fldigi, then flrig, then in fldigi clicked Reconnect and they're talking FB.
Try renaming the .flrig directory and resetting up flrig. If that doesn't solve it then same thing for .fldigi directory. The program works, something is amiss on your system. BTW, I'm running 1.4.7.54. Will update and try on .55, but I'm confident it will work there too.

Hi Cliff
if it helps i am happy to do a screen share later in the week so you can see the issue, if we can arrange a time via private message here
but in the mean time i will uninstall all the copies of FLRig / FLDigi and start from scratch
is there any files outside the install folders in program files etc and any reg keys i need to remove so i get a clean install?
does it add anything to the path?
i am running Win10
thanks

Peter,
I assumed that you were on Linux or Mac. I'm not a Windows user. I've used it and can get around, but someone who is more familiar with the nuances of Windows probably would do better. On Windows, the config directories are in C:\<login-name> and are called flrig.files and fldigi.files. I would definitely try renaming them and see if it helps. A corrupt config file can do crazy things.
Also a reboot to be sure nothing else is running that is mixing in with this is always a good idea.
If needed we can do a screen share later in the week. Let me know if the renaming helps. No point in trying to fix something that has a possible bad config.

Ok, but I think you're making it harder than it need be. Uninstalling does nothing for problems 99.99% of the time. The config files are what controls the program operation.

Hi Cliff
Was not intending to do it tonight, but I would have laid awake thinking about it all night as you do,
So After a complete uninstall / delete config folders / reboot / re-install it is now working
I did notice my shortcuts which had the rig options one the them of the command lines may have been pointing to an older install in C:/program files(86)
All setup with correct paths and settings, and after a little bit of config no more crashing
😊
So we appear to be good, will try in anger on some CW, PSK31, RTTY and WEFAX later in the week, but fingers crossed I am good,
Many thanks for the help and your patience

Peter,
I assumed that you were on Linux or Mac. I'm not a Windows user. I've used it and can get around, but someone who is more familiar with the nuances of Windows probably would
do better.

Hi Cliff
if it helps i am happy to do a screen share later in the week so you can see the issue, if we can arrange a time via private message here
but in the mean time i will uninstall all the copies of FLRig / FLDigi and start from scratch
is there any files outside the install folders in program files etc and any reg keys i need to remove so i get a clean install?
does it add anything to the path?
i am running Win10
thanks
Peter

That's good news, Peter. Glad it's working. Enjoy!!!!
BTW, in the future you probably want to join the winfldigi.io list where you'll find more Windows savy users.

Hi Cliff Was not intending to do it tonight, but I would have laid awake thinking about it all night as you do, So After a complete uninstall / delete config folders / reboot / re-install it is now working I did notice my shortcuts which had the rig options one the them of the command lines may have been pointing to an older install in C:/program files(86) All setup with correct paths and settings, and after a little bit of config no more crashing 😊 So we appear to be good, will try in anger on some CW, PSK31, RTTY and WEFAX later in the week, but fingers crossed I am good, Many thanks for the help and your patience 73 Peter M0PWX Ok, but I think you're making it harder than it need be. Uninstalling does nothing for problems 99.99% of the time. The config files are what controls the program operation.
