Hello.

Just logged in as a new forum user.  First of all, I want to introduce myself. My name's Gregorio (51) and I live in Seville (Spain).

I need you to give me your wise advice. I have an old Korg 01WFD (my first synth) that has been making a strange noise from some months ago, in particular it is an echo that sounds when I play any key. You can check how it happens in this video: https://we.tl/t-Q2cZuGiMjO

This "beep" appears both with the synth connected to monitors as using headphones. 

No matter what key or sound you play. This annoying echo sounds randomly without any relation to the patch you're using, both in COMBI as in PROG mode.  I've tried to restore the original soundbank from ROM and from diskette, but it doesn't work properly either. 

However, when I RESET the synth (Compare and reset while powering up) I get one piano sound (INIT) and the echo doesn´t appear. How inaudite!!!

Does anybody know about this fail?

I've asked an official Korg technician for this issue, but he had no idea about it.

Weird. Could it be some specific effect or 'oscillator' that is damaged? And so it may be absent from the 'Init Prog' and possibly from some others programs?

If it goes away with the initialization but comes back as soon as you have the original patches reloaded, there are a few possibilities.

- bad RAM which isn't being accessed until the patch memory is filled in that space

- problem with the FX controller

- faulty OS EPROM

Maybe try to load a sysex bank like this one after an initialization and see if it happens there.
