Re: Messages going awry

Hi Hank,

There hasn’t been anybody posting anything here, that’s why you’re not hearing anything from the group. It’s been pretty quiet around here. Maybe if Steve comes out with a 40 meter Slop Bucket things will pick up again.

My eyes lit up when I saw there was a new message to the group. You can imagine my disappointment when it turned out NOT to be Steve announcing some new wonderful rig. Carry on.

Joel,

Me I'm wishing too.   Heck I'd take another 20M or two.

I was too late to order from the first batch.  It would be perfect for SOTA, too.  I'd be happy if there was a run of PCBs.

Hi Steve,
just wondering what the status is for another round of slop bucket 40m might be?  I would order 1 for the 40m band.

Some time in the fall most likely. I’m pretty busy with outdoor activities this summer.

Steve,

If you do more I plan to get at least one, maybe two.

One to drive an old 6M solid state transverter and the other
for a band other than 20M or for me to mod for said other band.

ATS-3B

Al Clark

Hi Folks,

I just joined this group.  I am interested in the ATS-3B.  I know LNR sells the MTR3B but I’d like to build one rather than buy one.  From what I can tell, kits have not been available for a long time, and no more will be produced.  Is there a source for the PCB and a parts list so one could build one?  Actually, what I’d really like is the version that is in the Home Photo on this group which appears to be a MTR3B with the display used in the MTR4B and MTR5B.  Maybe Steve will produce kits for this new version of the MTR3 with the LCD display?  That would be awesome!

Re: ATS-3B

The main reason the ATS-3B was discontinued was because a number of critical parts became obsolete and unobtainable. You could not duplicate one because of this. It is possible that there are still a few unbuilt kits out there which are being horded.

The new MTR-3B with LCD should be available from LNR in the near future. I’m not going to make it a kit, not even a consideration. I have moved onto other things.

The ATS-3B and the MTR3B are *completely* different rigs!

Thanks for that information.  I am an RC modeler, and we have the same problem with parts availability on older radios.  Glad to hear LNR will have your newer version!  I'm looking forward to seeing your future projects.

There are probably a few unbuilt ATS-3B kits around, but it will be
difficult to find one, as well as difficult to obtain once found.
Finding a built rig for sale would be much easier. I got very lucky
and scored an unbuilt kit a few years ago...and they were pretty
scarce even then.

Re: ATS-3B

Hello, Michael.

Sorry. I didn't mean to sound like I had a kit available for sale. I too, got lucky and one came across my way, thru patience. I started my study about 6-7 years ago, by the way, from building and studying kits, many from 4stateqrp. I believe the ATS-3b had come and gone at the time I was learning about reverse polarity protection :) I intend to build the weber kit in this near future. I collect select, unbuilt kits - kits that are reputable, and affordable. I will pay the full amount the kit originally sold for. This kit breaks my bank, I got a good deal on mine. There is so much to keep busy with while learning in a fun way! There's a kit coming out soon, from a RF designer of boards named Hans Summer, with built in test equipment, to say the least. Genius at hand. I have a number of Steve Weber's kits I have built and learned greatly from. K5bcq - AustinQRP - I am currently building his MTC III, while waiting upon release of another kit of his. He helped me with my first LCD display - highly reccommend. And Diz, look him up, down there in Florida , in the shade. Get, while the gettin's good. I stay in Low Power, QRP, as it resonates with my pocket book.

73, Shawnr. kf7yff. ps. I will be responsible and update my QRZ status. thank you.

No worries, just thought I'd take a shot at it! I, too, collect kits and build them when I get around to them! I have a 30 meter 1-Watter from Diz that's half-built, a 20 meter OHR 100A from Marshall that's half-built, a Norcal 40A (Wilderness kit) to start, a qrp-tech 40A that's built through Chuck's first phase, a QCX that will be built when the Enclosure arrives from Hans (it was handed off to the Turkish post office today!) and I will definitely be ordering a QSX after the initial rush quiets down, you know it's going to be a massive hit if the QCX serves as any indicator!

Man, typing this all out tells me I need to get off my duff and get some projects finished!
