Steve,

the picture of the mountain topper shows a very clear display, unlike mine. Is this the MTR-5B or the new Slop Bucket?

It's a new version of the MTR-3B I'm working on which replaces the single digit LED display with the LCD display used in the MTR-5B (LNR version). LNR will eventually be selling this version and will likely replace the MTR-4B and 5B.

Slop Bucket manual

Steven Weber

The final manual for the Slop Bucket  is now available.

I added a few new features to the firmware.
There are now 9 frequency memories available. If programmed,  location  number 9 will be the power on frequency.
There are now three ways you can calibrate the si5351 clock to make your actual frequency match the dial.
1) you can use a frequency counter
2) you can use WWV at 15 MHz. Use a digital mode waterfall to line up WWV's 500 Hz, 1 KHz or 600 Hz tone with the waterfall frequency ruler. I was able to calibrate to within a few Hz this way.
3) Use a SWBC station. Zero beat / tune for clear audio. Haven't actually tried this one, but I hear plenty of SWBC stations down around 12 MHz during the day.

I'm slowly getting parts bagged...

By the way, the moderator(s) can be reached by

groupname-owner@...

according to

so it should be

Is anybody receiving this email via

Hi,
I think the only thing we need is ONE member of the old Yahoo group who has moderator privileges, as described here:

This is just for the messages. The files could be downloaded from Yahoo and uploaded to the new group by any member.

Does anybody of you have moderator privileges for the old group?

No, you can transfer it all over. It would then be prudent to delete unneeded photos. Group settings should also probably be 1K x 1K max photo resolution.

There is probably too much storage in use in the yahoo group for the free groups.io group to receive transfer of the yahoo group.

The yahoo group has 514MB in photos alone. The free groups.io limit is 1GB total (messages+files+photos.....)

Just unsolder the antenna center connection on the BNC jack, take off the nuts on the phone jacks, remover the BNC jack, remove the four mounting screws and the one holding the front panel in place, then lift out the board. Should take about 2 minutes.

worked like a charm, tho ole fumble fingers here, made it in 10min. vs. 2.

Re: Slop Bucket manual

I just updated the Slop Bucket manual in the files. No real need to down load it again if you don't want. Just one minor change.

The EEPROM erase function got moved from the "MODE" switch to the "CAL" switch. This way you won't accidently erase the calibration and freq memories if you push on the mode switch too long.

Hi Steve!
You still have two instances of Q3 on the page with the schematic for power and transmitter section.
Maybe you can correct that as it can confuse a kit builder.

Hi Steve!
In an a subscriber to kd1jvdesigns.
I have a short question: how long do I have to wait to have my messages approved?
I was trying to make you aware that on the schematic section of the power and transmitter you have two transistors with the same label Q3.

Who wants to build a Slop Bucket kit?

Steven Weber

All the parts are finally packed up and ready to be shipped to your workbench!

As usual, the demand will likely outstrip supply as there are only 46 kits available, so I'll likely have to pull names out of a hat again. I will eventually do another run of these, so if you can't or don't plan to build this pretty much right away, let some else have it who will. By now you should have looked over the manual and know what your getting into.

Reply to me direct by clicking on the "Reply to sender" button at the bottom of the email. Please don't reply to the group. That will just confuse the issue and make more work for me. I'll collect names until tomorrow morning and then get back to you.

So, here's the deal. The cost is $60.00 USA only, check or MO only. Sorry to make you go through that trouble, but paypal won't let me make a buy button unless I upgrade to business and for that I need a legal business name and that isn't going to happen.

Steve,

Do you have a full page schematic?  the Zip file did but the files section no longer contains the zip file

It arrived Saturday, so far just going though it before heating up the iron.

The schematics should have been in the manual – I’ll double check.

Re: Slop Bucket manual

Couple of book bugs in the manual.

Page 1 might be good to print boldly 20M.
Page 4 Atmega348 in board layout view, should be Atmega328.
Page 23 D9 in the schematic is D2 on the board.

Notes so far...  Tiny, I am a fan of that.

Thanks for mechanical layouts, very few kits come with those and I do appreciate that for the drillin
and blastin part ( case making).

Re: Slop Bucket manual

The three section schematics are in the manual.  Just not the full all on one 8.5x11 schematic.
I think I have it at home out of the zip file but your copy is official.
