Special Event "Last Man Standing" - March 24th to 30th
Mark Hinkel
Picked this up on Facebook... do we (should we or can we) schedule the D-star repeater for alternate reflectors that week? See below... Mark WA3QVU >> Cut and Paste from FB << KA6LMS – Special Radio Event During its nine seasons, the Last Man Standing ARC operated as KA6LMS from real radios on the set during production breaks, making thousands of contacts with the show’s amateur radio fans. The special-event team includes the Long Island, N.Y.-based Great South Bay Amateur Radio Club, the 12 Days of Christmas and the K2Heroes teams. DMR operation and DSTAR on REF012A will be courtesy of the Los Angeles based PAPA Repeater system. DSTAR on REF030B will be courtesy of Georgia DSTAR. The intent is to operate on as many bands and modes as possible, including SSB, CW, and several digital modes. Satellite and repeater operation is also encouraged. A number of Bonus Stations with special 1-by-1 call signs and KA6LMS /(Call Area) guest operators will be positioned around the country to increase access to the event. When the actual “on-set” radios are in operation, the Bonus Stations may act as relays to assist in contacting KA6LMS. KA6LMS and a number of affiliated stations will livestream their operations. At times, the AmateurLogic.TV team will pick up video feeds from active stations to provide commentary and context. The event will start at 00:00 UTC on March 24, 2021 and end at 23:59 UTC on March 30, 2021, the last day of shooting for the show, which is concluding its long, successful run. Operations will always be spotted online. More information will follow. Contact: Lou Maggio NO2C at lou_maggio@...

Philly Swap Net on Zoom - Tuesday at 7:30 pm

-----Original Message-----
From: Mark Hinkel <mrhinkel@...> To: Mark Hinkel <mrhinkel@...> Sent: Sun, Jan 17, 2021 10:27 pm Subject: Philly Swap Net on Zoom - Tuesday at 7:30 pm To all Hams in the Delaware Valley,
Paul (N3TMX) and I are now moving our "on the air" Swap
Net over to Zoom. The meeting is scheduled to
begin at 7:30 pm on the First and Third Tuesday evenings of the month. See link at the bottom of this email.
I am inviting hams from PWA, Warminster ARC, Packrats,
Philadelphia Digital Radio, Phil-Mont, DVRA, Marc, Marple-Newtown,
Reading RC and maybe a few more. Dave (N2VUZ) is helping
with the current estate and Charles (KS3Z) may have another estate for
us to look at as well. Attached is a doc file with items from the W3AEH estate. Dave has some items up in Telford and I have some here in Willow Grove. These are from an estate, prices listed are "or best offer".
I ask everyone to take a full sheet of paper - 8-1/8
x 11 - and write your first name, call sign and either your email
address or a phone number. Please show it to us, when you display your
equipment. This will allow interested parties to contact you off the
Zoom meeting.
I will go over the rules we have used for the PWA "on the air" Swap Net.
1; No more than 3 items per person / per night. There's always next week to bring up 3 more.
1a; Estates may show up to 6 items per night.
2; No up front costs. If your item does sell ?? then the seller will make a donation to the club.
3; As per Fcc rules, no haggling price over the air. Mention the asking price and haggle on the phone.
4;
Make up a quickie email listing your items for that week. Nothing long
and drawn out. Just the 3 items and be prepared to send it to anyone
who asks... not only people on the PWA email list.
5; No number 5, four is enough.Mark WA3QVU
Thank you to Steve (KB3ORG - PWA President) for allowing us to use his paid Zoom account so we don't run up against the 40 minute time-out.

Re: Montgomery County COVID-19 Vaccine Registration
Jim McCusker (K3YO)
Chuck, It's probably best to point people to the main MontCo web page that links to the 3rd party sign-up form. If MontoCo makes changes to the form they may end up pointing to a different form page than the one you listed. Here's the main MontCo page that has the link (orange button on page): 73, Jim

Montgomery County COVID-19 Vaccine Registration
Montgomery County just opened a website for you to sign up for the Covid-19 vaccination for Phase 1B and 1C. That’s everyone age 65 or older or those younger with pre-existing conditions.
https://www.montcopa.org/3660/COVID-19-Vaccine It asks your name, birthday, address, phone number and, I assume, your pre-existing conditions if you are under age 65. If you are not sure which phase you fall in, sign up anyway and they will determine your eligibility. The site is for people who live or work in Montgomery County. Once you register you will receive an email from Veoci saying you will be contacted with a vaccine appointment link when they have available vaccine supplies. It says this may take up to a month or longer. There is more information on the MontCo website

Harvey's funeral was Monday this week; His daughter Lizzy gave a very good Eulogy of her father which is at the bottom of the link. Read it, you'll remember something about Harvey as you do.

Well yes and no...
Our idea is to limit shipping costs and packing.
To answer your question; I will ship out out of state but you will have to pay the costs. I have a full time job and maybe I can't get things packed up right away.
Many of my items come from estates... Yes, Paul and I have handled quite a few over the years. We now have Dave (N2VUZ) and Charles (KS3Z) from the RF Hill club, also with estates. As I'll explain on the Zoom, we are not looking to sell-off expensive radios and equipment. Just estate items and similar equipment to make a few bucks for the local clubs is Bucks and Montgomery Counties. (namely Penn Wireless and RF Hill)
Allan (W3AEH-SK) is the most recent;
He died of Lou Gehrig's disease. His widow Sarah wishes for the proceeds to be donated to the ALS Foundation. Less the typical 10 percent to the radio clubs.
Just something to keep in mind.

From: Mark Hinkel <mrhinkel@...> To: Mark Hinkel <mrhinkel@...> Sent: Wed, Dec 30, 2020 9:40 am Subject: Randy Arnold N3KKU - SK I'm off work this week and following the Weather and Information Net on the Marple-Newtown repeater. The net is everyday at 8:30 am on 147.195 (PL 100.0).
The club president announced Randy's passing last night -- he was 60. Many of us remember Randy as he regularly supported the Warminster ARC Hamfest at the Grange and was very much involved with amateur radio. Randy was a diabetic; the past couple of years he was blind and on dialysis. Lately his room at rehab (Ambler?) faced the South and we would often find him on the Marple-Newtown repeater.
Jim Goldman (W3JG) has a nice remembrance of Randy post here;
http://www.mnarc.org/blog/post/randy-arnold-n3kku-sk
There is a Gofundme page setup for Randy that will now go to the church pastor and pay for Randy's funeral expenses. It has currently raised $1100 of a $2500 goal.
