>> Swap Net Rules <<

The PWA Swap Net on Zoom is intended to offer an on-line meeting place to sell items similar to what we do at area hamfests -- and to avoid the fees and shipping associated with other on-line auctions.  Typically we exchange email or phone number via the chat window, and of course meetup in-person at local radio club meetings or events.

Rules are simple; You may offer any radio related item (ham or commercial), any type of test equipment (large or small), tools including soldering irons, pliers and screwdrivers, office equipment including computers, scanners or other peripherals, older computers to be used for APRS or logging, etc.

>> Previously posted rules <<
I will go over rules we've used for the PWA "on the air" Swap Net.
1;  No more than 3 items per person / per night.  There's always next month to bring up 3 more.
1a; Estates may show up to 6 items per night.
2;  No up front costs.  If your item does sell ??  then the seller will make a donation to the club.
3;  As per Fcc rules, no haggling.  Mention the asking price and haggle on the phone.
4;  Make up a quickie email listing your items for that month.  Nothing long and drawn out.  Just the 3 items and be prepared to send it to anyone who asks...  not only people on the PWA email list.
5;  No number 5, four is enough.

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Cold War Historical Society is a 501©3 non-profit organization in existence since 2010. Our primary mission is to collect oral histories of individuals involved in Cold War-related activities in the southeastern PA area. Many of our interviews have been with individuals who worked at the former Naval Air Development Center (NADC), Warminster, PA. We have collected over 120 interviews thus far. We have also been involved in historical preservation of the old Johnsville Centrifuge, which was located at NADC. This naval acceleration research facility helped to train X-15 pilots as well as Project Mercury and Project Gemini astronauts in the late 1950s through the mid-1960s. Finally, pre-pandemic, we hosted live educational lectures at the centrifuge building (now known as “The Fuge”) multiple times a year as part of local community outreach, with a focus on both Cold War and Space Race-themed presentations. Since the pandemic, we have transitioned to on-line webinars, and expanded our offerings to monthly events.

Our funding needs are modest: we maintain 2 websites—www.ColdWarHistory.org, and www.SEPAVeterans.com, which is a virtual Veterans Wall of Honor to pay tribute to southeastern PA Veterans, both alive and deceased.

Additionally, we offer honorarium to some of our speakers for our lecture series, and during non-pandemic times, we have also helped subsidize expenses for speakers traveling from outside the local area.

We have two major long-term goals: 1) funding to transcribe the many hours of oral history interviews we have collected so that we can eventually create a research repository of transcriptions and raw video and audio footage from those interviews, and 2) archival storage materials (boxes, acid-free paper, etc) in order to preserve materials that have been donated to us from interviewees and other former NADC personnel as well as items from the Johnsville Centrifuge.

We appreciate your ongoing support so that we can continue to document and to preserve local history that would otherwise fade with the passage of time.

Ruckus ZoneFlex ZF7762-S 802.11 WiFi routers

Stuart - N3GWG

Edited

Listmembers / Clubmembers,

I want to first say that I wish everyone a very happy, healthy, safe and thug free holiday season!

Some several years ago Tim gave away some 802.11 access points at a meeting (Ruckus ZF7762-S models) that had been taken out of service around Philadelphia (likely from Philadelphia's Earthlink days). I obtained several of these routers and they sat around for a while...until now! I took one apart and was able to find which two pins on the board are for serial TX and RX to the board (granted an RS-232 to TTL level converter was needed to access the serial data), I have its console! This allowed me to capture the full console output upon boot up and learn the partition scheme of the firmware non-volatile memory. Hom hum, so what you say? Well, firstly thesew devices runs Linux on them and secondly that means that I ought to be able to get OpenWRT running on it, and if I can do that then getting AREDN firmware running on it would be the next leap! Now granted these routers are N routers but they are quite capable as I believe they meet the 80MHz or 160MHz bandwidth capabilities for WiFi. By the way, these routers can run on 12V or on Power over Ethernet too! I also believe that the Atheros chipset they have in them is capable of 802.11r/k/v/w and 802.11s also!

More to come soon!

Don,

I’m not sure what you mean by kicked out.
The PWA UHF Fusion repeater, 448.225, is rarely down. The Fusion room also rarely has a problem.
The repeater is in AMS mode.
The repeater and Wires-X are open except for 2 Japanese rooms we have blocked.
Wires-X / Fusion have DG-ID set to 0 which is the default.
There is a 1 hour time out on the Wires-X which will return the Wires-X back to the PWA home room of 21349 if it was on another room.
The repeater is a Pennwireless Club repeater.

Other than that I’m not sure what the problem could be.

This is a challenging subject Glen (KC3INP - PWA net manager).  Several of us have the Fusion radios and PWA has both the Fusion repeater (448.225) and the Wires-x box located in Roslyn.  This equipment is up and running 24/7 but is so lightly used the club might do better by promoting some other type service at the 440 machine. Maybe - but let's try a Fusion net one more time.

A couple of us have come up with the idea of running a Fusion net on Sunday nights but we're unsure what time??  Then Howard (N3FEL) stepped forward and said "how 'bout only once per month" on the first Sunday of the month.  I think we're ready to give it a trial run this Sunday (Dec 5th) at 8pm.  This will be on the W3SK 440 Fusion repeater and we will be operating in digital or DN mode because the Wires-x box is set to digital only. The line above the DN means your radio is in AMS - please select the DN without the line so your radio is not automatically switching back to FM. Remember, Wires-x is digital.

Anyone out there with a Wires-x box (HRI-200) is welcome to join -- our Yaesu room #21349.  I will have the K3PDR repeater/ Wires-x linked in (447.475) and also try to link in the Phil-Mont repeater (444.800). We'll see how well this works.

There is a Western Penna Fusion group that goes by the name of Keystone West -- now called Keystone Wide because they have a couple of repeaters connecting in from Eastern Penna.  Yaesu room #60328.  Problem is, they run their net at the same time as PWA -- both at 8pm Sunday nights.  We will eventually connect there on Sunday night, but lets try our own group first.  https://www.w3pie.org/index.php/wires-x-keystone-wide/

I will run the regular 2m net at 8 o'clock.  (146.79 Pl 131.8). With a limited number of check-ins, the 2m net will probably run only a half hour.

Re: Fw: PWA-Technet: Fusion net discussion

Sounds good-will try to make the net Sunday, though I’m not sure I’ll make it back in time. We’re attending a Messiah sing-along and then going to dinner afterwards.

Is there a PDR Jitsi meeting on Monday? I didn’t see a notification the last couple of months.
