I too finally can't read a pdf file.
Ron Kolesar
Hi to my fellow JAWS users.
I'm running win 10 and JAWS 2019. Just tried to open a pdf file from my local YMCA. No lock. Any and all advice will be deeply appreciated. Many Thanks. Go to edit preferences, then to security enhance, and uncheck the box that says to open in protected view. Fixed the problem for me.

Open Adobe Acrobat Reader and press Control-K to bring up the Preferences list.?? Then scroll down to Security Enhanced and tab once to the check box labeled, "enable protected mode at start up", and uncheck it and tab to the Okay button.

Adobe did something that Broke JAWS, as Vispero tech support said, but it's easily fixed. Open Adobe, either from the icon on your desktop, or from the start menu. Press control-k. Press s till you hear Security enhanced. Tab once. There is a checkbox that says, Enable protected mode at startup. It's checked. Press the spacebar to uncheck it. If you get a warning message, that's okay. You need to change this to make it work. Tab to OK. Tab to OK again. Now it works as it should.

grin! Once you ope your file in adobe dc, you'll hit ctrl plus k and that will open preferences. Arrow down to enhanced securityand then hit your tab key and you'll hear start in protected mode checked then just hit the space bar to uncheck it. Tab again and there's another checkbox about protected preview and hit the space bar to uncheck that as well. Then just keep tabbing until you get to the ok button ahd then hit enter. You're all set. Just close the file and open the file again and you'll be in business. Actually, you don't need to open a file, just open adobe pdf and hit ctrl plus k and you'll be in preferences. Appologize for not statint that first. Let m know if I can be of further assistance. Have a great day! BZ!
