uninstalling norton security scan help

Josh Kennedy <joshknnd1982@...>

I tried the norton removal tool before resetting windows 10. it did not work at all to remove the norton malware junk.

well I finally got all the Norton stuff wiped out. I had to turn off the RCA cambio windows 10 tablet,  turn it back on and then while it turned on hit f9 until narrator came on and i could go to the troubleshooting dialog and reset the pc. In partition manager there is a nearly 500mb hidden OEM recovery partition that lets me reset windows. I guess all windows10 devices have those now? anyway it is gone. but i would still like adobe digital edition to read epub books with jaws. but I am afraid all the norton junk will get reinstalled along with it and I will have to then reset all over again? So how can I just read epub books with jaws but without all the norton stuff getting put in along with it?

While I’ve heard the removal tool is the only way to remove Norton products, the last tool I used had a visual CAPTCHA, and it was independent of any browsers, so you could not get any CAPTCHA tools to solve it, short of a sighted person solving it for you.

The best way is to download the tool, and if it needs to be solved, contact the Microsoft Accessibility department for them to uninstall it for you manually and remotely.

Generally to remove norton products you need to go to their web site and download and run their removal tool.

Hi,

I installed adobe digital editions to read epub books. It asked me if I wanted to also install norton security scan. I clicked disagree, no, no thanks, etcetera with jaws/NVDA mouse cursor. But it installed it anyway along with some norton product thing which seems to have gone away. It also installed a chrome extension that i removed. I tried using the norton removal tool with OCR but this stubborn norton security scan just will not go away! So how do I remove it? Should I just reset windows10 wipe out everything and reinstall and re-set everything back up on my RCA cambio tablet laptop? I tried uninstalling from both control panel and the windows 10 settings app but no luck. this stubborn norton security scan still seems to stick around. Would malware bytes remove it perhaps? or is there an accessible revo uninstaller or force program remover tool that will uninstall it? the norton removal utility tool did not help at all.

thanks,

josh

seriously?
Windows 10 does not have a system restore?
Although that seems hard to believe, I wonder if 10 has something else to replace it?

Hi,

You have to download the Norton removle tool.

Jorge,

There is no better symbol for the purpose we serve than the emblem every Marine earns: the Eagle, Globe and Anchor. The eagle represents the proud nation we defend. It stands at the ready with our coastlines in sight and the entire world within reach of its outstretched wings. The globe represents our worldwide presence. The anchor points both to the Marine Corps' naval heritage and its ability to access any coastline in the world. Together, the eagle, globe and anchor symbolize our commitment to defend our nation—in the air, on land and at sea.

I don’t know about Windows 10, but in Windows 7, I was presented with a captcha which a sighted person had to solve. It’s too bad that Norton is so prevalent, so hard to remove, and so unfriendly for screen reader users. Most of all, they don’t care.
