can't edit a formula in Excel ... again
Ann Byrne
the latest version of JAWS2018 and 2019 has broken the ability to edit a formula in an Excel spreadsheet ... again. the fix in earlier versions of JAWS was to modify the JAWS Excel settings, insert+number row 6. Go to text processing, general, Enhanced Edit Support, and be sure it was unchecked. Now, whether I check or uncheck enhanced edit support, I cannot edit a formula in Excel.
Does anyone know a way to do this? thanks, |
|

With focus on the cell with the formula, when I press the F2 function key, I'm able to edit the formula in Fusion 2019. Does this not work in JAWS? Alan Lemly -----Original Message-----

What I just did was when I het f2 with jaws 2019, I hit the home key to go

to the beginning of the cell. Jaws will then read the formula if you go character by character. When you hit the home key, it will say the beginning of the formula and you can edit from there. Justin -----Original Message-----

Nope. It does not. It did before the last update to JAWS 2019, but not since then.

After pressing f2, when I try to move the cursor, JAWS reads the whole stinkin' formula, but does not move character by character to allow editing.

This has been an ongoing problem for me for quite a while. It only affects certain cells based on their construction. The one thing that seems to fix this for me is: 1. In Excel - Select File menu 2. Select Options 3. select Advanced 4. Uncheck the box that says "Allow editing directly in the cell". This works for me. -- hth -- -----Original Message-----

I've been having this problem intermittently for years. I think I have

picked up on a possible cause. If the length of the formula is wider than the cell width JAWS will not read the info, or just keeps repeating the entire formula. I've resorted to copying the cell contents and pasting them into Notepad, making the edit, copying the new formula and pasting it in the cell. Annette -----Original Message-----

Sometimes some columns wind up narrower than others, even when the data length is the same in all cells. Glenn ----- Original Message -----
