Skype and jaws;

Good morning all; on behalf of a client, my client is running jaws19, windows10, and skype classic, is there a way to stop the program from asking to be updated to the latest version? I went into tools, options, advanced, didn't see no checkbox for not allow skype to update.

We are being migrated to Skype 8. Microsoft has made accessibility efforts, and there is JAWS support for it. You want to avoid the Skype app, as distinct from the Skype 8 Desktop app.

There are lots of new skype keystrokes and some also that are added with the release of JAWS 2018 and 2019. Now remembering them all is another story.
I know I tend to remember those I need at a certain time rather than just memorizing them all. If you go to the help on skype or what's new with JAWS 2019, you should find a large table of both the Skype and JAWS keystrokes in Skype 8. Microsoft announced that after November 1st 2018 Skype 7 could stop working at any moment. Remember that it was stopped suddenly before and reinstated temporarily at popular demand. There is no alternative but to switch to Skype 8 and, although it has a learning Curve, it is workable. It has the added advantage of recording conversations.

Humberto

But to answer your question , no there is no way to stop it from nagging you. So far, I’ve not updated on my Windows7 dekstop that has Skype Classic, but have put Skype 8 Electron on the Windows 10 laptop.

I'm sorry that I haven't been following this topic much, as I've been avoiding updating Skype. However, my question now is how do I know if I have the app or the desktop Skype, and if I don't, where do I get it?? I am still on Skype 7 classic.

David. He or she is better off running Skype 8 and learn the new interface which is like a web page. I don’t believe there is no option to disable this in Skype 7 AKA Classic.
