Re: norton and jaws and adobe digital editions for epub books

Steve

Yes you should be able to get the digital edition without anything
else. A lot of installation sites offer add-ons or other software
that is sometimes checked by default as a way to generate revenue for
their hosting services.

Whenever you go to a download site, make sure you go through the
entire list of options before hitting the Install button. That way
you can make sure you aren't getting any added software you don't
want.

Hi,
Ok well I finally got my RCA cambio tablet reset. I had to turn it off. Turn

wipe out and remove everything and it did. Everything is back installed the
way I like except for a game or two that I can get later on. So my question
is this. Norton and its junk I do not care about has been wiped out. So is
there a way I can get adobe digital edition without Norton? I don’t want the
Norton stuff to be installed all over again. I just want adobe digital
edition software so I can read epub books. Or will google chrome let me read
epub books with the bookmarking features and stuff?

If the site uses Google Recaptcha and you are signed into your Google or Gmail account, simply checking the check box will verify you and move you on.

Hi Andy. The site in question uses both—but the section of the site I’m concerned about is not a Google ReCaptcha; it’s a standard Captcha that involves entering a code for verification. I’m trying to avoid using Firefox and Webvisum but it looks like I’ll have to alternate between both Chrome and Firefox for what I need to accomplish.

Thanks Much,

To add them to your task bar, you can hit the application key as soon as you see them in your search run box. Press windows key, then type in Excel, or whatever, and when you heard it then hit the application key. Add to Task Bar is one of the options.

Reading Details in File Explorer

Rebecca Lineberger

There is a sort of work around.  No, JAWS won’t read across the categories as you arrow down the list of files or folders. But if you’re just interested in hearing any one of the categories--the date, the type or the size—arrow over to the category you want, and then when you arrow down, JAWS will read the name and information in the category you chose with the right arrow key.  Obviously, the left arrow will select too if you change your mind

and want date instead of size for example.  This also works if you’ve searched for files—all your files with JAWS hints for example.  Here you can get the path information as well as the information normally available in File Explorer.

If you press enter on anything, you have to reset your left/right arrows to where you had them.

I often place mine on date.  This makes it really easy to select the folders and sometimes just files I need to back up since the last time I did it.  I prefer to back up data this way rather than using a program.  JMO.  Smile.

Re: selecting lines and columns in Open Office

Hi Robin,
Being an Excel user, that was the first thing I tried.
I may be able to do something different when importing my CSV file.
Although I have discovered that if I do shift + the end key, that will select the row.
The same may work for a column.

One more thought Glen,

Try the following keyboard commands from Excel to see if they work in Open Office.  Control spacebar will select the column you are currently in.  Shift spacebar will select the row you are currently in,  Once you have what you want selected, hit Alt E then d.  This is an old Excel shotcut that still works in Excel.

Hi,

I usually use Excel because there a lot of keyboard commands built-in with it.

I am unable to use Excel for my CSV file, because Excel shifts all the commas over, and apparently Open Office does not do this.

So I opened my file in Open Office, and Jaws is reading the cells and menus, and I went through all the menus and tried the application key to no avail.

I need to be able to select entire rows.

In Excel, that is shift + space bar.

That does not seem to work in Open Office.

Windows 7 and Jaws 18.

Thanks for any assistance.

The authorization number is the same because you have some SMAs one for jaws 17 and one for 18 .  to find out if your authorization number will work for 19 and 20 go to about jaws using alt+h when jaws is active and look for a number jaws remaining upgrades.

Or something like that.  If the number is zero your number won’t work for 19 or 20, you’ll need to purchase some SMAs.
