Re: Reading the Whole Screen

Another way to read more than the PC cursor allows is to turn on the JAWs cursor, then press insert-r. Repeated pressing of this insert-r combination gives different views of the screen.

Re: how do you enable the equalizer in Win Amps?
Victor Gouveia
Make sure the equalizer is actually open by control+tabbing through the
various parts of Winamp.
If you find it’s not one of the parts you land on, you can turn it on with
control+G, as Maria has pointed out.
In order to enable it, tab to the equalizer and press the letter N to
enable it. You should notice a marked difference in the sound. Since
N is a toggle, if you press it and the sound goes down, then it may be that it’s
already enabled.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

When you’re in the equalizer window, just hit the letter n. It’s a toggle.
If you change the preamp or one of the bands to be way off the middle, you’ll be
able to tell when it’s on or off.

Re: how do you enable the equalizer in Win Amps?
JM Casey
Hey.
Just a small correction; the toggle to turn on and off the equaliser is alt-g. I suppose too that when pressing n, unless you have made previous equalizer adjustments, you might not notice a difference in the sound right away. As the pre-amp is a part of the equalizer, an easy way to determine quickly if it’s working would be to press either the tab key or ` (grave accent) key while focused on the equalizer and with it enabled. The gain should go up or down accordingly. Make sure the pre-amp isn’t set too high though as it can cause a lot of distortion – use your regular volume control for standard adjustments, use the pre-amp to boost the sound of quiet audio.

His display is 1270 by 1024. When he presses insert 3, it reads the line of the bottom message, like there is no status bar. The window is maximized. Any ideas? Thanks.

Chrome Won't Install
Glenn / Lenny
Hi,
I like Chrome, but I uninstalled it because I kept
getting these spam-like popup, and no matter what settings I changed, they kept
coming.
I would have to go into task manager to close all
instances of it to get the popup to stop.
Anyway, I downloaded the installer again and it
won't install.
I go into task manager and it says google chrome
updater
I then close it and try again.
I downloaded the stand alone copy, and the same
story.
Any ideas why it freezes and will not
install?

Hi Glenn,
After you click on the install button there's another button
or checkbox you have to respond to. It's a license agreement or something
of that nature. If you can't get it installed go to,
and get / install it from there.

selecting lines and columns in Open Office
Glenn / Lenny
Hi,
I usually use Excel because there a lot of keyboard
commands built-in with it.
I am unable to use Excel for my CSV file, because
Excel shifts all the commas over, and apparently Open Office does not do
this.
So I opened my file in Open Office, and Jaws is
reading the cells and menus, and I went through all the menus and tried the
application key to no avail.
I need to be able to select entire
rows.
In Excel, that is shift + space bar.
That does not seem to work in Open
Office.
Windows 7 and Jaws 18.
Thanks for any assistance.

Windows typically will use the last good registry
