I had to go back to office 2010, I guess that is the problem. However NVDA works with it as it should.

When I open an excel file JAWS is focused on one cell and you can't go to another cell with arrow keys to read the cell.

However, I might have discovered a bug in File Explorer with the new Jaws update.

When in a folder list view, I used to be able to create a new folder using the alt control N command. I found this to be quite handy and efficient.

While I can still create a new folder by finding the option in the file explorer menus, it seems like the alt control N command is no longer working.

Can anyone else check for this bug, and let us know if it is being experienced on other Windows 10 computers with the latest Jaws update.

Try the following:
Go to the advanced menu with the keystroke, Alt + A.  Then press the letter, D, or arrow to, Device Selection, & press enter.  With Device Selection open
tab 1 time into a list of available options.  Arrow up / down, & usually your scanner brand + WIA, is the the 1 to try first.  Tab to, Okay, & press enter

Let me preface this by stating that I do not run Outlook.  I do run Outlook Express and in the View menu / Columns... I have a list of fields / headers that I can choose to have  shown or not as the default for all emails.  For all of you running Outlook and not finding anything when invoking the Alt 1 thru 6 keystrokes, have you checked to see if you have the same sort of settings in your View menu?  Have you checked to make sure your windoww is maximized?  I'm throwing this out there because I haven't read these suggestions, or missed them.

Hi Glenn,

The keystroke for reporting Jaws crashing or other problems to Freedom Scientific is, insert, windows, + f4 keys

If you just want to shut Jaws down that keystroke is, Insert + F4.  Reloading Jaws the default keystroke used to be, Control, Alt + J.

Hi Miriam,

Open an email first then try the alt + 1, alt +2 and so on. You have to have a message open before it will work.

See? Tom now has alt 1 though 6 in Outlook 2016 with the new update?  He has it, but I don’t.

Subject: [jaws-users] Possible Bug In File Explorer In New Jaws Update

Hello, everyone.

As you know, I just updated to the latest build of Jaws 2019 on this Windows 10 PC.

Most things seem to be working well, and I’m very glad to have the Alt 1 through 6 commands available for reading Outlook 2016 message fields.

Thanks!

I've got Office 365, did the Jaws update, and it isn't working. Is it
because I have a Windows 7 computer?

Outlook 7 might be the problem. I'm sure it works with outlook 2016 and 365.
I don't know how well it works with earlier versions.

I haven't been able to hear the usual information in Outlook emails
when using alt and numbers, but I thought I read that this latest
update to Jaws
2019 was fixing that. But for me, it doesn't seem to have done that.
Anyone else?

Jaws Not Reading Outlook Express Messages

Glenn / Lenny

Hi,
A friend of mine is using Windows 7 and Outlook Express, the paid program, and the latest Jaws.
He thinks it is when he has WinAmp open, but I'm not sure that it is related to WinAmp.
But he opens a message and cannot read it.
If if he switches to an older version of Jaws, like Jaws 2018, he can read messages for a while, and he has the same problem.
If he switches back to 2019, he can read it.
If he unloads jaws and reloads it, he can read messages.
He did a jaws repair and that did not help.
He reinstalled Jaws and that did not help.
I'm wondering about his display settings, but Windows says that the 1280 by 1024 is the recommended settings.
So I'm not sure what might work.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Glenn

Mr. Ed

I’ve tried with several open emails. I just tried with this one. Jaws says, “not available”.

Hi, I have been having this issue for some time. I am using Jaws 2018 with Outlook 365. It doesn’t happen on all messages and I can’t work out any Patten to it. I just automatically press control page up when opening a message.

I usually press up arrow to make sure I’m at the top.  I quit doing that tonight and can confirm the behavior others are reporting.

You need to log into your gMail account on a browser and go into settings
and google account, and then open the security section that is collapsed and

allow less secure apes.
