My solution is to go to the Google chrome icon on the desktop, and press alt + enter
On the first field, the target, press the end key, and then a space.
Then paste in the URL you want to open.
Shift

I just went through the process. I’ll try to give you a step-by-step.
Be sure to close Chrome, then reopen it. Otherwise the setting you need might not appear.
