If not, Vispero™ are planning to fix it in the next patch update to 2018.

ESR 60.2.1was more responsive for me than the "regular" version 62. I
got
to use both of them because the Reader add on wasn't working for me in
the
newly upgraded version 60.2. Version 62 did not work either (with the
hot
key combo alt control R.so I returned to the ESR which updates a few
months
behind the "regular" version. of FF.

I have no issues with version ESR 60.2.1 - yet. Reading the finer print
about Reader, I noticed that F9 will actuate it..now all is fine.

Change is good? Volumes will continue to be written on the subject but
change is inevitable despite our opinion of it.

Go to the options, privacy and security, and see if the "prevent
accessibility services from accessing your browser" box is checked. It
should be unchecked.

You should be aware though that there is some kind of bug that is
causing
JAWS 2018 and Firefox 57 and above to hang, particularly on pages with a
lot
of links. Not sure if this is reproduceable on all systems but it's
certainly the case with my 64-bit Firefox/Windows 10 setup.

I read about this topic recently but could not find anything in the

and the problem is new with Firefox version

60.2.1esr (64-bit) currently on the esr update channel.

JAWS reads page title but nothing else except blank, blank, blank

If anyone knows the fix, I'd appreciate it very much.

Hi David,

On my end the programs page does  not open last couple times. I was on the tips page and it was fine.

Take care,

Jorge,

There is no better symbol for the purpose we serve than the emblem every Marine earns: the Eagle, Globe and Anchor. The eagle represents the proud nation we defend. It stands at the ready with our coastlines in sight and the entire world within reach of its outstretched wings. The globe represents our worldwide presence. The anchor points both to the Marine Corps' naval heritage and its ability to access any coastline in the world. Together, the eagle, globe and anchor symbolize our commitment to defend our nation—in the air, on land and at sea.

No, the naming convention for Windows 10 is the last two digits of the year of the release, followed by two digits for the month.
Version 1809 should be the September 2018 version.

JAWS 2018 AND iTunes

John Justice

Hello group,

Before writing this detailed message, I tried to resolve the issue on my own without success.

For some reason, Jaws 2018 and the current version of iTunes do not work well together.  A description of the issue, attempts to correct and suggested solutions are below.

THE ISSUE

With Jaws2018 as the screen reader, I opened iTunes and found that Jaws would no longer accept any keyboard command.  That included something as simple as spacebar or ALT+F4.  Jaws would respond with a message indicating that the key combination was not found.  I couldn’t tab, backtab, use any navigation arrows or do anything else.  The only option was to engage Task Manager and manually shut down iTunes.

ATTEMPTED CORRECTIVE MEASURES

  1. Uninstalled iTunes completely and re-installed using a clean version from the web site.  Although this change did make some improvement, Jaws 2018 would work for approximately five minutes, then seize up as it did before.
  2. Uninstalled Jaws 2018 and re-installed with a version from the web site.  There was no change in the performance at all.  Jaws would still seize up after a short time.

    UNFORTUNATE SOLUTION

I still had jaws 18 in my system so I shut down Jaws 2018 and activated jaws 18.  I created keyboard commands which would re-open either version of Jaws.  With jaws 18 operating, iTunes had no issues at all other than the usual problems.

BLIND TUNES IS NO MORE

For quite some time, I had been using Blind Tunes to help me navigate through iTunes.  When this problem started, I went to the site only to find that the software is no longer available as such.  Blind Tunes did have problems keeping up with the continuous changes Apple sent along. I’m not sure if Blind Tunes was only temporarily unavailable or if the designers finally gave up and decided to concentrate on their other products.  Jaws is the only screen reader I now use.  I did try NVDA for a while but navigating iTunes with it was not a happy experience.

If anyone has a working solution to this problem, I’d welcome it.  For now, I’ll just shut down Jaws 2018 and use Jaws 18 when working within iTunes.

Re: Moving Emails to Folders in Outlook 2016

John Justice

Some of the other members might have already responded to this request. However, we use Outlook 16 at work and find it necessary to move items to folders quite frequently. Below, you will find the method we use.

MOVING AND SAVING MESSAGES IN OUTLOOK 2016

1. If you are reading a message, close it but do not move the cursor from its focus on that particular message.
2. Press the Applications key which opens a submenu.
3. Press the letter M for Move. Outlook will show you a list of folders that were most frequently used.
4. Move to the chosen folder in the list and press Enter.

SPECIAL NOTATION
If you don't see the folder you want to move things to, exit the applications submenu and try to find the folder by standard navigation. It might be located within another folder. You do have the option to move any folder but that is another set of commands. If you run into that problem, there is a Folder option on the tool bar. Move to the desired folder, then access the Folder option. One of the choices is to move the folder. I recommend placing it on the main tree by locating the identity name, then tabbing to the list of folders. If you do that, then the folder will appear on the main list in alphabetical order.
You can also create a new folder and that option is to the left of the main folder list.

Good afternoon,

My company recently upgraded to Office 2016, and I have a coworker who is having trouble moving emails to folders. He used to go to the Home tab then to the Move section. He would hit spacebar and be able to choose from several folders. Now, he gets to the move item and Jaws says there’s a grid and he can’t go to the grid by tabbing or using the arrow keys. He is on Windows 7 and the latest build of jaws 2018. He used to be able to do this function in Outlook 2010.

Website issue - what could have changed?

Van Lant, Robin

I have just started having an issue with a web-based app I use here at work.  This is the HTML version of our companies time card program and has been a straight-forward interface for years. Last week, I ran into a significant access issue.  I thought maybe I changed a setting in JAWS that impacted this, but I have looked at everything I can think of, with no help.  Also, the problem is not according on other websites, and seems isolated to this application.  I have an email drafted to our corporate contact for this application, but am hoping to add any concrete ideas some of you with more HTML knowledge may have on my issue.  I have enough vision to see that the interface does not appear to have changed, which is why I first thought this was a JAWS issue.  Also, everyone else in the company uses a java-based version of the application, so I would not expect much to go into re-designs of this HTML version.

Simply, up until now, the homepage had many text links on it to take me to my timecard, my employees’ timecards, and reporting.  JAWS virtual cursor no longer can find these links.  It only sees some links in the top banner, such as Logout and  Help. The Virtual cursor cannot find anything on the page below that top line of links. On the timecard page, JAWS virtual cursor can no longer find the combo boxes, either.  Interestingly, switching to JAWS and Touch cursor, I can navigate the pages.  The touch cursor even recognizes the text links and combo boxes.

Before I embarrass myself by complaining to corporate about something that is my fault, can anyone think of something I did to cause this or a logical explanation for why the PC cursor can’t see the links any more, but the touch cursor  can?
