ctrl still brings up my contacts. Try Mike’s suggestion to make sure all your WLM windows ar maximized. It does make a big difference. And if none of these things help, if you have the .exe file for WLM you can try a repair.

Is there an alternate way to access the wlm contacts? In the past I believe that I used control plus 3. Now control 3  brings up windows  applications and settings, Microsoft management console.
This is on a win 7 32 bit machine using the latest jaws 2019.
I need to access a contact’s phone number.
TIA.

I just tried minimizing and i could still read everything just fine as well.  This is really weird!  So, when you down arrow does Jaws read any of the 25 folders or just not the Users folder?  Try pressing the, F6 key to see if the behavior changes.

3. Restart computer
4. Using NVDA which can read the items.
Any other ideas? Thanks

what version of wlm are you useing. i think some of the shortcut keys were changed.
shift control c does open the contact dialog to add new contacts
control 3 opens the contact list so you can choose a contact and control 1 will close the contacts list. this is for my desktop keyboard and wlm 2012, the one with ribbons.

Hello Teri,

You should be able to just press escape key to return to the main document
area. To confirm that the text did get entered use Alt followed by N
followed by H followed by e to move back to the header area. The text
should remain in the header even though you press escape key to go back to
the main document window.

Hi

I'm running Jaws 18 latest build with Office 365.

I need to insert a header that will go at the top of each page in several
documents. Can anyone suggest an easier way to do this? I go to insert,
headers and footers and select edit header.

When I paste in the text I want, I can't close the edit field.

If I tab to try and locate a close button, a tab is inserted in the header
text.

I've tried using the jaws cursor but can't find anything to tell me where a
close button is.

Can anyone help?

Thanks all.

Re: JAWS is silent when moving up and down the item in JAWS settings center

Mike B <mb69mach1@...>

Hi Sim Kah Young,

Try the following:
1. Open the Settings Center with, Insert + 6, on the number row above the main keyboard and then press, Control, Shift + D, to open the default all applications.
2. Down arrow to, Speech Verboscity, and press right arrow to open then, down arrow 1 time and notice which level of verboscity you're using.
3. Down arrow to, Configure verboscity levels, right arrow to open and down arrow to your level of verboscity... and press the spacebar to open.  Note:  Do not press enter on your level of verboscity, only press the spacebar because pressing enter will close the Settings Center.
4. I use the Beginner verboscity so if you use the same level make sure everything is checked except for, Control Description.
5. If you make any changes tab to, Okay, press the spacebar, again tab to, Okay, press enter to save and close.

If this is not what you need or doesn't fix the problem please write back and give more descriptive details of the problem you're having.

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.  Go dodgers!

Subject: [jaws-users] JAWS is silent when moving up and down the item in JAWS settings center

Hi all,

With the latest version of JAWS, I encounter the above problem. However,
JAWS will only read when there is no other item to open with right
arrow. Does anyone encounter this and is there a solution? Thanks.

I am using windows 8.1 with the latest JAWS version.

JAWS and Validately

Hi.

Does anyone have experience with Validately and JAWS?  Thanks.

Re: turning off virtual cursor in WLM

I can try that here, but I had tried that a long time back with Outlook and it did not help.

Did you try checking the box to respond to messages using the same format as the sender? This is the only thing I can think of that might cause this.

It's strange, it does not happen with every message.
It does happen with messages that I'm sure aren't sent in HTML, and it does not happen when replying to yours.
But it seems to happen to most of my replies.

Sorry but I have been using WLM since it came into existence and have never had this happen. I wish I had some help to give you but ...

I've experienced this in Outlook as well.
When replying to a message, every keystroke acts like you are on a web page, like quick keys.
The only way to fix it so you can write the reply is to do insert + Z.

I never need to turn off the virtual cursor in WLM. I must have missed something here because I don’t know why you are having to do this or under what circumstances.
Since there is nothing here to explain, could you post more info?

Hi,
It's getting quite annoying to have turn off the virtual cursor in WLM when I want to reply to a message.
How do I turn it off permanently for WLM?
Thanks
