Hi Miriam,
I too used to make the subject less descriptive, and years back when I realized that all the web searches I do gave me needed information and the information I found was from lists like this, and non-Blindness lists, I realized the importance of having a meaningful subject.
Web searches, like with Google, provide more meaningful results if we use subject lines that relate to our message.
Sometimes we feel like it only affects this list and its members, but it affects the entire world.
Most list archives are available to web searches and people not on the list from around the world will be reading our messages.
So when I create a subject, I always give it some thought, as to what I'd be searching for in Google.

I understand the necessity of exporting my Quicken qif information for each financial account housed in Quicken. I was able to export my checking account without any difficulty even though Money Talks only imported the first 20 or so transactions due to it being a trial. I'm more confused how to get a complete financial picture with Money Talks since it seems to require maintaining separate files for each of your accounts. The other thing about Money Talks I'm finding confusing is that unlike Quicken, it seems to want you to save your file every time a new transaction has been entered or an old transaction has been edited. This is more like a spreadsheet program and will require some adjustment since Quicken automatically saves anything you do in it and does not prompt you to save anything when exiting the program.

 

I do like Money Talks and its navigable User Manual on their website. I expect I'll get many of my questions answered after I read the entire user manual. I wish I could purchase a registered copy today but APH requires calling over the phone and providing a credit card number live so I'll have to wait until Monday when they're open again.

What you need to do is export your Quicken accounts as separate export files. I only use Quicken for my checking and savings, so if you go into the export submenu of Quicken, it will give you the option of exporting checking, savings or all. You cannot select all. Instead, you select checking and then savings or the other way around. This will give you two QIF files and you import them separately to Money Talks.

 

For some reason it didn't let me name them on the import and the name I chose for each one didn't show up. That may be only because I'm using the demo.

 

Hope This makes sense.

It is old software, but I've heard it still works in Windows 10 and I believe you can download a free trial version.

It should be able to import the data file from your export or backup from Quicken.

I'm lazy, and let my wife handle Quicken since it does not work at all well with Jaws and we do not need QuickBooks.

Well, the standalone  OE does work quite well, however, you can't import mail or contacts, I've tried many times. however, saying all of this, it's very easy to add contacts within outlook express.

You can no longer find the .exe file for WLM on the web, so here is a link to the version with ribbons which I use every day with Win 10 and Jaws 2019.

 

I have heard so many negative issue with Outlook Express I avoid it, however, that being said, many people love it and I am fairly sure you could transfer your WLM info to OE and give it a try.

I have heard so many negative issue with Outlook Express I avoid it, however, that being said, many people love it and I am fairly sure you could transfer your WLM info to OE and give it a try.

In Thunderbird each address need to be in a separate line.

OK, with Rebecca’s directions and this explanation of how I get from one choice to another, I think I did it. For me, this whole thing is a nightmare. It happened because someone was helping me download Jaws 2019 but wasn’t able to stay until the whole thing was done. I never did all the settings myself, before. Thanks.

Here's a little more to add to what Chris has said:

 

It's called phonetic announcement and here's how to turn it off:
1. Open the Settings Center with, Insert + 6, on the number row then press, control, shift + D, to open default all applications.
2. Arrow down to, Text Processing closed, right arrow to open, down arrow to, General closed, right arrow to open, down arrow to, Phonetic Announcement,
and rightarrow to open.
3. With Phonetic Announcement open you have 2 choices:
A. Down arrow 1 time to, Spell phonetically always, this is a checkbox.  To turn it on press the spacebar to check this box.
B. Down arrow again  to, When pausing after character navigation, and this option has 4 choices that you toggle through using the spacebar.  To turn off
use the first choice from below.
* Speak character phonetically never.
* After one half second.
* After 1 second.
* After 1 and one half seconds.
4. After making your selection tab to, Okay, and press enter to save and close.

move to it and pause. You can adjust these settings in: Insert+6 for
