Re: all of a sudden jaws has become an "allow through UAC program"
Sounds like a uac sensetivity issue. The farther you have it up it comes up all the more.

Re: Is it worth learning the adaptations for a laptop or instead buy an external keyboard with a numpad?
O pooh! Plus, you would want a key combination you could do with one hand.

Yes, NVDA is my backup, too, but I know people who absolutely love it, so I believe it is all in what you get used to.

Re: expected jaws behavior
This sounds like the behavior I was seeing in Chrome and is the behavior I would expect and want. Again, when you header question ins short, it’s not a problem to hear it before each answer, but

Re: Is it worth learning the adaptations for a laptop or instead buy an external keyboard with a numpad?
I like NVDA, but it is not as intuitive as Jaws, and it will always be a backup screenreader to me.
If someone could make a Jaws layout for NVDA, I think it would be more popular, but it may not be

try opening a context menu on the jaws desktop icon. click on properties and check advanced. and make sure run as administrator is unchecked.

Also putting the ctrl key in combination with the caps-lock key is different, but very doable. You can choose either desktop or laptop with NVDA, too.

I looked in keyboard manager, and I cannot find anything for the escape function, or alt + F4 to add to insert + enter.
There's no insert + enter to add alt + F4 to either.
There is control + W that I

Humberto,
Interesting catch, but now it is really odd:
When none of the radio buttons is selected, jumping to the heading before the radio group then tabbing into the radiogroup causes jaws to

The laptop keyboard layout and the ability to navigate without always having to move your hands back and forth between the arrow keys and alphanumeric part is the main reason why I haven’t switched

Re: Is it worth learning the adaptations for a laptop or instead buy an external keyboard with a numpad?
Let us know if it works, or could you do it with a key closer to the insert, assuming you’re talking about the num pad? I don’t know about remapping, although I understand generally what it is.

The only thing the number pad lacks is an escape key when reading messages.
If there is an unused key

Yes, of course that works, its just that you can do this with one hand using the num pad insert key. But that laptop layout is great, and my preferred.

For what it is worth, if they changed it, they would know which one it is, right?
So I was addressing the generic question about the default.

I’d agree with you, except the “whatever” key is not always the insert key, depending on the layout you choose. Some prefer the capslock key, and I think it is even possible to map it to
