OCR component not installed
Hi all,
I am trying to do OCR on a PDF file. It keeps saying that the OCR component is not installed. How do you do that? I thought it was already in Jaws? I am running Jaws 2019 latest update and windows 10. Thanks, Jenn Jenn and Kumi |

Interesting. Did not work for me. Did alt and I and arrow down and left just send me to the next tab. Right arrow send me to table, pictures, illustration and so on.

You’re right, a panel does pop up, but for the life of me I can’t figure out how to insert the Emoji.
You can, however, insert an Emoticon by pressing alt+I to go to the Insert ribbon, press down arrow, then left arrow to go to the Emoticon button. Pressing the spacebar will activate a grid with various Emoticons and to choose one, you simply press enter on the one you want.

Glen, it’s the Windows Key+semi’':colon.
Unfortunately, Jaws doesn’t report anything on the screen, but once you press that combination, if you arrow up and down, you get a table of Emoji’s to choose from.
I don’t know what the number at the end means, but pressing enter activates the Emoji.

It can be frustrating, learning when to tab and when to arrow up or down, left or right. There are quite a few categories, recently used, smiling faces and animals, celebrations, food, transportation… But you can also just type in a search term and see what matches it finds.

Re: Free antivirus programs and Jaws.
Mr. Ed
Hi Mike, My other computer has this setting and it was not checked. So now I am wondering what someone else said on this list about if you have 1809 it should be turned on by default. Well I am running 1903 and it was not turned on, on one of my computers. I turned it on but it would not stay on so I believe my hardware is not compatible. Mr. Ed

Hi Mr. Ed,
Try the following: 1. Press Windows key + I, for settings, tab 1 time to, System and findUpdate and Security, press enter. 2. Tab 1 time into your listand down arrow to, Windows Security, and press enter. 3. Tab to, Device Security button, press enter, and you'll land on, Core isolation details link, press enter. 4. You should now have, not checked Memory integrity button, press the spacebar and your computer will let you know if this can be started or not.

Hi, I might have miss this but how do you make sure this is turned on? Mr. Ed

Memory integrity protection uses virtualization hardware in the CPU to protect code in the operating system kernel from malicious modification. That, at least, is what I understand from the documentation.
It’s part of Microsoft’s strategy to make life much more difficult for malware authors, and therefore safer for users.

Hi Mike, I went to the location but it says something about my hardware not supporting extra security and so on. I do not have this in step for. , Core isolation details link. So I assume this computer cannot run it. Thanks for the info. Mr. Ed
