Hi Marie,
Try alt + the home key and see if that works for you.
That is the hotkey in question.
Thanks.

I just got done, two days ago, logging into my Paypal account; then sent a
payment to a friend; and logged back out using IE11 on my Windows 10
computer with Jaws.
For most things, I use Jaws 16.0.4468 because that is the last version to
work with Outlook Express.

I occasionally use the newest version of Jaws, but generally don't need to.

I would use it more, but for some reason, when I do, it breaks Jaws16
ability to work with Outlook Express without doing a repair of the older
Jaws installation.

I'm speculating here, but that might be due to the fact that when I updated
this PC to Windows 10, I installed 19 first before installing 16.

Don’t know what to tell you then.

Control+L and alt+D will take me to the address bar where I can type whatever in, but alt+home has always taken me to whatever I have set as my home page at the time. Be it in Firefox, Chrome or IE if I remember correctly. That’s how it’s supposed to work.

Mr. Ed,

On the settings screen I get, the first thing I hear when tabbing once is Ease of Access vision or something to that effect.  I have definitely made changes from Ease of Access settings to make my screen high contrast and adjust the pointer.  I do think the screen started appearing once after some point when I was making some changes.

Go to Settings.

Turn them off.

Hi,

I am using mostly Chrome lately, and I keep trying to use my alt + home key to get to my home page, and of course I don't expect it to work, in Chrome, it's just a habit from the other browsers.

So is there a hotkey in Chrome to get one to the home page?

Thanks.

I am preparing to get a Windows 10 computer soon. I have gotten my E-mail messages imported into Outlook. However, I’m having difficulty importing my contacts.. I choose the CSV format. However, I the Browse button is worthless in selecting a file. When I paste a file name in, it doesn’t work. Am I missing something or do I need to contact Microsoft Disability? Thaks for any help.

I am not using Windows 10, I'm using 7, but I sometimes experience that sluggishness while typing.
I thought it was my computer, now I wonder.

Hello,

There are some folks on another mailing list saying that they’ve been experiencing serious troubles with jaws 2019.1904 and windows 10.  They say the problems started after the last couple of windows updates, particularly the update released on may 3.

Among the problems, they remark jaws not reading clipboard history, jaws not reading properly   windows 10 settings, and sluggishness of the screen reader, specially when typing.

As far as I recall, I don’t remember no one here reporting those problems, but I could be wrong.  However, I use jaws 2019.1904, and I installed those same windows updates but everything went smooth sailing for me after that.

Does anyone here know something about it?

Hi Lev,

The sound problem you're talking about is in Windows 10 and how it removes the factory soundcard driver for some soundcards and replaces it with a generic driver when doing an operating system update.  This problem is supposed to be corrected in a cumulative update or major update for Windows 10 if it hasn't been already fixed.

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.  Go Dodgers!

Actually, I forgot mentioning that, but some folks pointed out problems with the audio as well although I can’t tell for sure that is exactly the same problem because they didn’t go on details.

On the other hand, I don’t have a solution to your problem.

I am having a problem where I can be working away, or if I leave the computer for a while.

My volume drops to a level I can hardly hear.  The only way to fix this, is to unload jaws and restart the program.

Changing the volume in Volume control makes no difference.

Any clues? please.

Rob.

These volume issues seem to only be on certain systems so I don't believe it has anything to do with Jaws. I had one laptop that had the volume go way down on one of the early updates but the same system has never had the issue since and even then, all I had to do was go to the volume mixer and increase the volume to normal. That was the one and only problem I have had with volume on updates to three systems and multiple updates.
The problems almost always are with the Real Tech cards but all three of my systems have that sound device. I also think the majority have been with HP devices and the solution has often been the installation of a new driver.

People using NVDA have had the problems as well.

remove hardware bug 2019

Lenny McHugh <LennyMcHugh@...>

I just encountered a bug with the latest 2019 on a win 7 machine. I did some backups then went to the system tray with insert F11. When trying to activate safely remove hardware I am kicked out of that option. Unloaded j2019 and re launched with same result. Unloaded again and launched J2018 and it worked as expected.
