Hi Glenn,

That will pin the shortcut icon to the Taskbar itself and I don't have any more room on my Taskbar.  I need to add the icon to the Taskbar properties / Customize...button so it'll show in the system tray when I press, Insert + F11, to access the system tray.

Hi Mike,
I think that if you go to the start menu and navigate to Stascom, and tap the applications key on the item that is just the program, it's just Stascom, and you will be able to arrow to "pin to task bar".
And I think that will do it for you.

Hi All,

Running Windows 7 Pro and J16 thru J2019.  I'm playing with the Stascom program but, although it starts with the computer I don't have an icon in my system tray notifications customize choices so I can tell Windows to show this program icon in the system tray.  How can I add an icon to the Taskbar properties / customize to have Stascom show in the system tray?  Doing searches gives steps that I can't translate to keystrokes.  All help will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks much.

I kind of like that when it reads automatically no matter the program I’m in.

That way, if it wasn’t, I would have to alt-tab to outlook to find out it wasn’t something I needed to read right away.

Doing as Mike suggested will stop the reading no matter which app has focus. I’m the one who asked re this recently, and his suggestion works beautifully. I thought I had to change something in JAWS because the reading was in all windows regardless of which had focus- but the fix is not inside JAWS.

Below is a note from someone with the same problem and their fix.

Hello, a month or so ago, I asked for assistance in stopping jaws from automatically reading new incoming messages in outlook.
No matter where I was in windows. whether it was ms word, the documents folder, etc,  jaws would begin reading new messages as they came in.

In case anyone has this issue, the fix is,

While in outlook, press, Alt + F, then the letter, T.

Arrow down once to the mail option.

Then tab several times to desktop alerts. Uncheck this option and then tab to ok button.

This should take care of the issue.

Someone else asked about this recently.  I gave the suggestion to be sure that Desktop Notifications are turned off in the Outlook Options under the Mail heading.  Go to Alt F, T, then arrow down to mail and Shift tab past the Cancel and OK buttons.  The list of Mail options is really long, so I think it’s faster to get to the one you need by going backward.  I’m not positive if this will solve your issue, but I think it will help.

Hello,

I am running JAWS2019 on a Windows10 computer and using Outlook 365 Enterprise for e-mail.  When messages arrive in my inbox, the body of the message is read by JAWS.  Both the Reading Pane and the Preview lines are turned off from the ribbon.  If anyone has any idea how to stop this, I would appreciate any recommendations.

Something you can try is when you press, Control + F, to open the search edit field, down arrow  and, Size, is one of the search options.  I pressed, Control + F, on my operating system drive while in, Computer, arrowed down and size was there.

Well, I'm responding to my own message, just because I found the answer on-line.
I had looked before, but most sites indicated to click on items I could not find easily.
But I found a great answer, if you want to find the biggest files on your computer:
tap the windows key
type:
size: gigantic
press enter and you will have a list of the larger files on your computer.

Hi,
In XP, it was easy to find a file on the computer by size, but I for the life of me can't remember how to do this in Windows 7.
I'm just trying to find any file over a given size.
Thanks

The sight is the National Weather Service. You can find it easily with a Google search. All you need to do is type in a zip code. This probably wouldn't work for other countries.

Re: Weather Research it

I don't know about whether they are letting it die but I surely would not be
surprised to learn it isn't a priority. Nor should it be, imo. Must be a
real pain in the a*** to maintain, and when all information is easily
obtainable from other sources, I guess they ought to be spending time and
effort concentrating on making sure JAWS is up to speed with doing what it
is supposed to do, namely, functioning as a screen-reader.
I do use the dictionary lookup and currency conversion because they are
admittedly very convenient. The former, at least, shouldn't be changed too
much with the passing of time. Still expecting it might stop working one of
these days though.

FS is aware that the weather research it is broken. There has been quite a bit of conversation on this or the other JAWS list and someone found a site that was good, which I don't recall. But, for now, don't bother trying to use Research It for weather.
You will need to go to a weather site with your web browser.
