Re: IE and the latest JAWS not working together?
Hi Kenny,
I believe I'm using the latest version of Firefox ESR 32-bit version but since I'm traveling, I'll have to confirm the actual version number when I return home Sunday.

Something very strange is happening when I open a specific folder. I have 11 items in that folder, and when jaws reads each item jaws says 2 expanded then jaws announces the item And through out all of the contents jaws will announce either expanded or collapsed! What is happening and how do I fix it so jaws doesn’t say expanded or collapsed for each item? E-mail is golden!!! Kevin Lee

Hi Lenny,
What browser are you running? Try looking in the Tools /

that helps.

Re: IE and the latest JAWS not working together? ... Outlook 365
I have just spent many hours trying to get Outlook 365 to work effectively with Internet Explorer. it won't. However, following Matthew Dyre's suggestion, I tried it with Chrome and it works beautifully. also with Firefox. I had no idea that the browser could make such a totally astounding difference.

I E works good enough for me and my internet bank has never had a problem, unless you use a different browser or PC to log on because the iBank recognize the original setup, Also the only way to get to J2020 is through 2019, it's a good idea to get your Jaws SMA. When I open I E it opens to the search bar... And control O is the address bar, which from a website you are on currently you can jump to another website by pressing control O and type in the website and press enter. Alt + A opens your I E favorites list, find a saved website and press enter.

I'm not tech savvy so I'm trying to find the best one. When I open Internet explorer, I have Yahoo as my home page and all I have to do is hit control O and I can put in the web address. Hi Sugar,
Simply having Internet Explorer on your desktop does not mean you're actually opening Internet Explorer on the Desktop.
You have to go into your Internet Options, then tab to the programs tab.
The first option will ask you how you want Internet Explorer to open links. There are three options.
1. Let Internet Explorer decide. 2. Always in Internet Explorer. 3. Always with Internet Explorer on the Desktop.
It's the third option you want.
Then tab to apply then ok and you're done.
If you want to replace that icon on your desktop, assuming you're using Windows 10, you have to go into your start menu and up arrow to all apps.
Once in the app list, press the letter W or arrow down to Windows Accessories and press enter to open the sub-menu. Arrow down to Internet Explorer and press your applications key or shift+F10.Arrow down to More sub-menu, then arrow right and down to open file location.
Once the window pops up, press your applications key or shift+F10 then down arrow to send to sub-menu. activate the sub-menu and arrow down to desktop, create shortcut. Press enter and you'll have the right icon.
Now, I have no idea if it matters what icon for Internet Explorer you use, but hey, what does it hurt. LOL.

I also use Internet Explorer, and in fact, have given up using Edge because of it's various troubles with Jaws. I realize they say they're getting better and better with Edge, but I simply haven't seen it, and so still rely on IE.
Having said that, you should make sure that Internet Explorer is set to open Internet Explorer on the Desktop.
You'll find this setting under Internet Settings in the apps tab.
There will be two options, open Internet explorer, or Internet Explorer on the Desktop.
The former is a stripped down version of IE, whereas the latter is the full featured one with menus and such.

Hi. This afternoon FS sent me a Word.JCF file that they hoped would resolve a problem I’m having with Word 2016 and JAWS 2019. I made the mistake of pasting it over the existing Word.JCF file without first saving that original file. the
new .JCF file causes Word to repeat every line. It’s a nightmare.
Can anyone suggest how I restore or retrieve the original Word.JCF file?
Thanks.

Hi Sugar,
Simply having Internet Explorer on your desktop does not mean you're actually opening Internet Explorer on the Desktop.

Window Eyes has not been supported or developed since it became a free screen reader through Microsoft so it may work with older versions of IE. But you really should stop using IE and move to a browser that is being developed and supported. If you stay with IE, you'll find more and more problems will develop and eventually it will be unusable. Mine rarely comes up anymore whether I do a keystroke or hunt for it using first letter navigation on the desk top. John At 03:52 PM 2/4/2019, you wrote:
Since I updated to the latest version of JAWS, IE is a mess, can't hardly use it with JAWS. Has anyone else noticed this. I can switch to window eyes and it works OK, that is why I think JAWS is the cause.
