The authorization number is the same because you have some SMAs one for jaws 17 and one for 18 .  to find out if your authorization number will work for 19 and 20 go to about jaws using alt+h when jaws is active and look for a number jaws remaining upgrades.

Or something like that.  If the number is zero your number won’t work for 19 or 20, you’ll need to purchase some SMAs.

Hello Cherri

I presume you have tried coming out of Outlook and re-opening it?

Control 1 should take you to your inbox

Control 2 to your Outlook Calendar

Control 3 to your address book.

I personally use control y to take me to a list of Outlook folders and right arrow on Google mail which then offers me a list of sent, bin, pending etc.

If I want to quickly return to the inbox I either use control 1 or control shift i.

Below are some notes I made on Outlook when first coming to Jaws:

Recommended:

set the reading pane either to bottom or off for best compatibility between JAWS and Outlook.  In addition, you can make some changes from the quick settings dialog, which is activated with insert+V.

Read list status: Jaws Key+Tab or say line (Jaws Key+NumPad 8).

read line hotkey : insert+up arrow.

Read current line: insert+up arrow,

Access an attachment: open mail and shift plus tab then press context menu or alt down arrow for options.

Access sent from field: alt 1

Access date sent field: alt 2

Access sent to field: alt 3

Access c.c. field: alt 4

Access subject field; alt 5 (alt 5 twice to move focus)

Below are some notes

There is a sort of work around.  No, JAWS won’t read across the categories as you arrow down the list of files or folders. But if you’re just interested in hearing any one of the categories--the date, the type or the size—arrow over to the category you want, and then when you arrow down, JAWS will read the name and information in the category you chose with the right arrow key.  Obviously, the left arrow will select too if you change your mind

and want date instead of size for example.  This also works if you’ve searched for files—all your files with JAWS hints for example.  Here you can get the path information as well as the information normally available in File Explorer.

If you press enter on anything, you have to reset your left/right arrows to where you had them.

I often place mine on date.  This makes it really easy to select the folders and sometimes just files I need to back up since the last time I did it.  I prefer to back up data this way rather than using a program.  JMO.  Smile.

Hi Sheri and list, I forgot to mention that when you go to the top of all your folders, arrow down and when you hear that your email program is closed, press the Right Arrow, to open it and then you can Arrow down from there to see the folders.

Sorry about missing that part of my explanation.

Hi Sherri,

I am using Jaws 2018 and Outlook 2016, If yours works like mine, you should be able from your list view, be able to press Control+y, type the name of the folder and then press enter.  You’ll then be able to arrow down through the messages within it.

If I want to save a message to one of my folders, in order to see the list of folders I have to press Escape, to go back to the list view and then I press Shift+F10 followed by m, for move, then o and in order to see all the folders, I go to the top with Control+Home and start arrowing down and when I find the one I want I can just press Enter.

Hope that helps.

Sincerely, Vicky

Re: selecting lines and columns in Open Office

Hi Robin,
Being an Excel user, that was the first thing I tried.
I may be able to do something different when importing my CSV file.
Although I have discovered that if I do shift + the end key, that will select the row.
The same may work for a column.

One more thought Glen,

Try the following keyboard commands from Excel to see if they work in Open Office.  Control spacebar will select the column you are currently in.  Shift spacebar will select the row you are currently in,  Once you have what you want selected, hit Alt E then d.  This is an old Excel shotcut that still works in Excel.

Hi,

I usually use Excel because there a lot of keyboard commands built-in with it.

I am unable to use Excel for my CSV file, because Excel shifts all the commas over, and apparently Open Office does not do this.

So I opened my file in Open Office, and Jaws is reading the cells and menus, and I went through all the menus and tried the application key to no avail.

I need to be able to select entire rows.

In Excel, that is shift + space bar.

That does not seem to work in Open Office.

Windows 7 and Jaws 18.

Thanks for any assistance.

Glenn
