yeah but i don't think anymore than that.?? as it is it seems like a rather large amount for Jaws.?? but if you are only going to update Jaws every few years it may be worth it to some

Perhaps they can have an auto detect for scanning devices with a bunch of needed drivers.
I have difficulty with it finding my canon 650U scanner in Windows 7, and there are none at Canon for Windows 7.

Indeed. I know everyone’s needs are different and if you’ve got a lot of physical documents you want to be able to scan, you may still need a program like this, but honestly, I don’t think I’ve used a stand alone OCR scanning software in a while and have done so sporadically in general for a good long while now. In my case it’s Kurzweil 1000, but still. I do it so infrequently now that it takes me a minute to figure out what I’m doing instead of it coming to me second nature.

Between the enhanced Jaws OCR and the various iOS OCR solutions, it’s no wonder programs like these aren’t receiving the attention they once did.

I’m not saying that they’re not needed anymore per say since again, folks still receive paper documents and not everyone’s got a smart device, but from how it was before to now. It really is every blue moon.

Hi, Jim,

I have tried that numerous times over the last couple years, and works great for a couple  of times, then goes right back to the crackling skipping problem again.  I’m beginning to wonder if Total Recorder hasn’t kept up with the Windows updates.  I’m on Windows 10.

One thing interesting, the program always has muted Windows sounds, and that is good.

Do you still record with your copy?  Mine emits these crackles and skips now, and not even reinstalling helps after one or two recording sessions, goes back to the crackles and skips thing.

               Hello, All,

I hope this question isn’t too much off topic, as I do use Jaws 2019, as of today, but for a long time now, actually for years, I have been using High Criteria’s Total Recorder and love it.

Except for a while now, when recording, I am getting crackling and skips.

Have you all found a work-around or correction for this?

I did contact High Criteria support, and followed their instructions to run Total Recorder from the kernel version, but that didn’t work at all, and since then, I haven’t messed with it much.

It is great for editing and for converting to other audio formats, so will keep it around for that reason.

I have been doing any recording with Audacity, but would like to get back to Total Recorder.

Thanks very much for your collective wisdom.

Judy, I messed up the title of the program. It is virtual recorder, not visual recorder. I was doing two things at the same time and wrote the wrong thing in my email. You want virtual recorder. let me know if you have trouble finding it. my email is, jazzpiano@...Jim

Hi, Jim,

I have tried that numerous times over the last couple years, and works great for a couple  of times, then goes right back to the crackling skipping problem again.  I’m beginning to wonder if Total Recorder hasn’t kept up with the Windows updates.  I’m on Windows 10.

Hi, Jim,

One thing interesting, the program always has muted Windows sounds, and that is good.

Do you still record with your copy?  Mine emits these crackles and skips now, and not even reinstalling helps after one or two recording sessions, goes back to the crackles and skips thing.

Judy, are you using the free version or the paid one. The free one will give you hiss about every 30 seconds. What I want to fix is jaws reading stop start, etc. When I am trying to record. Have you found a way around that? Jim

It really is every blue moon.

as a long time Openbook user, and one who had been on their private beta team for close to ten years, I can say, they have done nothing significant with OpenBook for several years; but you all have already received something new from them.

The updates to the Convenient OCR and Picture Smart have been good additions.

Whether they are planning to put all the extra features from OpenBook into convenient OCR is anyone's guess.

I personally have concluded that OpenBook is what it is and will no longer be updated.

I hope I'm wrong.

Go to file, then options.
Go to trust center, then tab to settings
Go to e-mail security
Then, tab over to read e-mail in plain text.

Hi all,
I just wanted to give you an update on the question that I posted a few
weeks ago about Jaws and links. I was able to change the setting that David
sent me, however this doesn't seem to have fixed the problem. This setting
seems to be for changing how messages that I send are composed not how
messages that I receive are displayed. I am using Jaws 15 and outlook 2013.
Can someone please tell me how to change it so that messages that I recieve
are displayed in plain text not HTML? Look forward to hearing back from
anyone who can help me! Thanks Madison

Thanks Kimsan.

Maximizing didn’t work but I was able to label the form fields after looking at the training site.

I am so happy to have them label again, it will make my job easier.

If maximizing doesn’t work, you can always try labeling them. Look here:

Hi Kate,

They're already labeled, but it sounds like Jaws isn't reading them so 1st, make sure the window is maximized with, Windows key + uparrow, or hold down the Alt key and press the spacebar, then uparrow up to maximize and press enter.

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.  Go dodgers!

Hi All,

My work computer was upgraded last week to JAWS 2019, windows 7 and outlook 2013.

We are getting new computers in the fall and they will have outlook 2016 and windows 10 on them.

In the past version of JAWS I could tab to the form field and JAWS would say first name, middle and last name, now JAWS just says edit.

Could someone please give me instructions on how I can label them?

Thanks in advance.

Morning all.

Using JAWS 2018 and Windows 10 on a Dell laptop, I keep getting a notification regarding updating Adobe Flash Player. I have gone through the steps for updating this software many times, getting the message that the update has been completed, and yet, I keep getting the notice that it needs to be updated. Is this a fluke, or does this software really go through this many updates? And if there is one, what is the remedy? Thanks.

This to me is kind of a grey area. Open Book is self voicing and there for off topic. On the other hand you can use it with JAWS with some fiddling that I know how to do but I wonder how many others know those tricks. So for the most part I come down on the side of it being off topic.

I was not going to say anything more after Rick's note about this being off topic until someone gave crazy wrong information.
Openbook 9 was release about 10 years ago, not 20--which would be the late 90's. I'm not sure when the transition happened between Archenstone to Openbook, but it was in the late 90's.
Sorry, but I had to chime in.
