It is indeed called Picture Smart, but what the hell is a, meem?  LOL  LOL  I'm not trying to be funny, but I truly don't know what a, meem, is!

1 thing you could try is copy this, meem thing to the clipboard, open the Run dialogue with, Windows key + R, type a single period as you would use at the end of a sentence, press enter, find the, My Pictures folder, find and open the Picture Smart folder, now paste this, meem thing into this folder.  The Picture Smart feature should start deciphering this meem thing when you highlight / select it if it can do it.

A meme is a virally-transmitted photograph that is embellished with text that pokes fun at a cultural symbol or social idea.

The majority of

modern memes

are captioned photos that are intended to be funny, often as a way to publicly ridicule human behavior. Other memes can be videos and verbal expressions.

Some memes have heavier and more philosophical content.

The world of memes (which rhymes with 'teams') is noteworthy for two reasons: it is a worldwide social phenomenon, and memes behave like a mass of infectious

Hi Miriam,

I'm really late to this but, from what I understand is that you want, Characters, as your preferred choice.  From this message I'm replying to it sounds like you've chosen, Words, and not, Characters.  If you do the exact same steps that you used but, press the spacebar until you hear only, Characters, then do the apply and okay you'll have the Characters setting you prefer.

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.  Go dodgers!

No, I had to do this with insert 6, type in the word, typing, in the edit
field, arrow down to characters and words, press the space bar until I got
to words, only, and then tab several times through apply and OK. So now I
think it's permanent in both word and Outlook.

Now that I have begun using Google Chrome regularly, I was wondering

whether there is an extension for solving captchas, similar to the

Webvisum captcha solving add-on for Firefox.?? Doing some research, I

came across a Chrome extension called Buster that supposedly automates

those annoying audio challenges that are almost impossilbe for human

ears to decipher.?? Has anyone tried this extension or found some other

captcha-solving extension for Chrome that is JAWS accessible?

The developer is Oliver, and I believe it was this list

You must do the steps exactly.

When you get it installed, you want to disable it until you need it, because developer mode can mess up your computer!

The captcha solver doesn’t solve all captchas but it solves most of them!

Hi, Kevin,

I thought I remembered a thread on a list of someone trying to develop an extension like this, but that there were several security problems, and it had to do with going into developer mode.

Was it this extension at one time, or possibly another with another developer?

I’m not even sure which list had this conversation, but thought I would check before downloading.

No, I had to do this with insert 6, type in the word, typing, in the edit
field, arrow down to characters and words, press the space bar until I got
to words, only, and then tab several times through apply and OK. So now I
think it's permanent in both word and Outlook.

if you are in the settings center, shift tab to the o.k. button and press enter. if you are using the insert plus 2 just stop and start typing. with the insert plus 2 its only temporary and when you close the program or the module you are using the setting will go back to what's selected in the jaws settings center.

as richard mentioned, using the insert plus 2
only changes it for the current session and once
you move away from the application or close it
and then re-open it what was set comes back. to
make it the change stick, you must use the insert
plus 6 method and press the spacebar till you
hear characters then as he said shift to the o.k. button and press enter.

A more simple solution, go to the jaws help, then arrow down to startup wizard!  Tab through the choices.

It doesn’t just say characters. It says, “characters and words”. I can’t find a choice which says just “characters”.

If you want it to echo just characters, when it says character, shift-tab to OK and hit enter, and like I said you may have to do that again, then when you exit, Jaws will ask if you want to save the settings, of course select yes.

Hitting the spacebar toggles through those choices.

I hope that helps.

It says none, word, character. So when it says, “word”, what am I  supposed to do?

You may have accidentaly toggle to word with insert 2. Just press insert 2 until none or other options.

I just don’t want the words to echo.

the quickest way seems to be to press insert-6 (that is the 6 on the number row)

That brings up the settings center. If you want this to apply for everything, press control-shift-d for the default settings.

In the edit box, write, typing and hit enter.

You should be on Typing echo words. tap your space bar until you get to off, if you want Jaws to remain silent, shift tab to OK and hit enter, you may need to do that a second time and then confirm you want to save the default settings.

HTH,

Richard
