I'm not sure if this will be the fix or not but quite a few people had the same problem not so long ago as well as myself.

In Adobe go to preferences and then look for security enhanced. Then there should be a check box that will say something like start protected mode at start up. You will want to make sure the check box is not checked. Then go to OK or whatever it is so it will accept. You may need to close Adobe after that and reopen it ...I can't remember. Melissa

Re: latest CCleaner
Mike B <mb69mach1@...>
Yo Kimsan,
As Dan and Emile said, if you press, Alt + C,
you can tab to both the, Windows and Applications, cleaning options. After
you tab and highlight the, Windows option, tab to, Run CCleaner and press the
spacebar or the keystroke, Alt + R. After the Windows option finishes you
can Shift + Tab back to the Windows option and right arrow to the, Applications
option, tab to Run CCleaner and press spacebar or Alt + R. To activate the
Registry cleaner option press, Alt + G, and press, Alt + S, to start the
scan. When the registry scan completes Shift + Tab to the list of items
found, then press, Control + A, to select all if you want to delete all.
Now tab to, Fix selected issues, and press the spacebar. A dialogue will
pop-up asking if you want to backup the registry before cleaning, so press the
spacebar on the, Yes, button and press, Alt + S, to save a backup of the
registry. Now tab a couple of times to, Fix all selected issues, and pres
the spacebar. When this finishes you'll hear, Checkbox not checked, now
route the Jaws cursor to the PC cursor, up arrow 1 time and you'll hear a couple
of numbers like, 40 / 40. This means that 40 issues were found and 40
issues were fixed removed.
Note: When CCleaner makes the registry
backup copy, it is save in your Documents or My Documents folder.
Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool. Go Dodgers! I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.

Re: looking for two Excel keystrokes -- if they exist
Mike B <mb69mach1@...>
Hi All,
Here are steps on how to customize the Status
Bar with Word or Excel:
To show number of lines, line number, or
many other options in the status bar in Word try the following:
1. Press F6 until Status bar is highlighted. Or, until you hear Jaws report, Status Toolbar. It should be the 2nd press of the F6 key. 2. Press Shift + F10 to show options. This keystroke must be used because a right mouse click or pressing the application key will not. 3. Down arrow through the available options, and when you have found line count or something else of interest press the spacebar to check or uncheck the item. 4. when done making modifications simply press AltF4 or escape key. 5. Review your status line to insure the settings have been properly modified. Joseph the free tech guy!
Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool. Go Dodgers! I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.

Hello, I’m still on Outlook 2016, but the attachment menu is the same. Once you hit space or enter on the Attach button, arrow up once to get directly to that Browse this PC option and hit enter to open that dialog. I’m not getting the behavior in that dialog that you are getting, although I know I’ve seen that on accasion other places in Office. It may be that you need to check that your View is set to list. It may also be a JAWS verbosity thing, but it’s hard for me to test, since I don’t have that issue.
I’ll also recommend a different approach for attaching files. My favorite way to attach files is this:

Hi. I’m having a weird problem with Outlook 2019 and JAWS. When I go into an e-mail message and go to Insert (to insert a file, then tab over to attach file and press enter, I’m presented with a list of recent documents, as opposed to the expected behavior, which is being placed in the My documents directory. The Browse inside my computer, which does give this behavior, is at the bottom of a list of documents. This is highly annoying. Also, when I’m in the list of documents, Jaws keeps saying “document grid”, which don’t remember hearing previously. What’s going on and how can I fix these annoying behaviors?

Hi,
I'm pretty sure that Jaws can be set to not read
through a web page when it opens.
I've been always meaning to turn this off, but I
usually get distracted and never look into it.
I hate it when I'm waiting for a page to open and I
go do something while waiting, like doing something across the room, and it will
come up and I have to run back and hit the control key.
I always like to start at the top of a page
anyway.
If anyone knows the route to this setting, it will
save me some digging.
Thanks.

Pontes Media Downloader was RE: [jaws-users] converting MP3
Dean Martineau's Flying Blind email yesterday mentioned the Pontes Media Downloader for extracting audio from other file formats and had a link to the following site where Pontes and its accessibility is discussed:
https://webfriendlyhelp.com/ponts-media-downloader-convert-online-videos-with-ease/
be aware that the above site has Pontes misspelled as it omits the e preceding the ending s. I could not find a download link at the above site which is needed as Pontes is a separate program that must be installed on your computer in order to use it. I personally prefer this as I'm finding websites I previously used to extract mp3 from youtube videos no longer seem to work for me. I located the following website where the latest version of the Pontes Media Downloader can be obtained:
http://www.pontes.ro/en/scripts/#pmd
I downloaded version 3 of Pontes from the above link and installed it without issue on my Windows 7 computer. I then went to youtube.com and did a search on Kacey Musgraves and opened a mix of hers which was the first youtube search result. I had Pontes running on my computer and noted that the URL for the Kacey Musgraves youtube mix which I had copied to my clipboard was already loaded into Pontes and when I executed its Download button, all the audio tied to that URL began extracting in mp3 format to the default Pontes Media Downloader folder under Documents on my computer. I was surprised that there were quite a number but was impressed that Pontes issued a nice tone each time a file was converted and JAWS announced when the process was complete. According to Windows Explorer, I got 85 mp3 song files in the Kacey Musgraves Mix subfolder of my Pontes Media Downloader foler under Documents. I sampled many of these and the quality seemed very good. It took more than a few seconds for the conversion to complete but based on the number being processed, I was very pleased with the timing.
Pontes seems like a most accessible and effective alternative for extracting audio from other file formats. I've just used it the one time but I encourage others to try it and report back if it works well for you.

Re: Windows update
Orlando Enrique Fiol
Hi Denise.
When I hit the windows key & started typing JAWS isn't talking anymore. ItSometimes with Windows updates, you have to reboot for Cortana and settings to work properly. This explains why you get no speech after pressing the start menu key. I think Windows did an update because I couldn't do anything on mycomputer.>rebooted my computer & it finally told me an update was in progress. If JAWS spoke this update progress announcement, it means that only features were being updated. If Windows itself were being updated, you would have to launch Narrator to hear the update progress because JAWS can't load until Windows loads. Is there any way that JAWS could tell you that an update is in progress?See above. It depends on whether you're getting a feature update or an operating system update. Feature updates can run at boo tup because the operating system has already loaded. So, you'll hear feature update progress spoken by JAWS. But JAWS can't run during operating system updates because Windows hasn't yet loaded. Itdoes ask you if you want to update JAWS now but I think Windows just does it automatically. You can set Windows to restart automatically when an update is ready. You can set it to notify you when the update is ready, or turn that off.
