Hi Casey,

It sounds like when you changed the start from selected to Normal that now something is not starting when the computer starts.  You should go through your programs that start with the computer to see if something needs to be turned on that isn't.

Hi okay I got rid of some unwanted things on my system.

And saw my machine was on selected start up.

o I changed it to regular start up.

Now when the it has started I get the warning that my AS display adapter
is not enabled or suppored or whatever that message says.

I am not sure how to copy that message to send it to the list cause it
happens when I have windows and Jaws load up.

So how do I get rid of that message I didn't change any of my display
adapter settings just the start up from selected start up to regular
start up.

So how do I make that ATI message go away?

Silencio is already installed on this computer.

I installed it when I first got the computer in order to prevent the sound
card from temporarily going to sleep after several seconds of non-use.

I'm not sure how to access the program here to make any more sound card
changes.

Again, I'm using Windows 10 version 1809 here.

Hi,
Here's an email conversation I was involved in among JAWS Beta list testers.
Assuming the problem is the same, take note of the blog post from Jonathan

I did and it worked for me. that problem disappeared.

Weird fuzzy sound
Hi,
All of a sudden the sound changes to a fuzzy sound regardless of the screen
reader I'm using.
it happens with all three screen readers JAWS NVDA or Narrator.
Unloading and loading JAWS does no good which makes me think its the sound
card.
the only way I know to get rid of the problem is to reboot the computer
which does fix the problem.
I'm using a realtech sound card.
Has anyone experienced the problem and are there any suggestions?

John

Hi John,
Not sure if the below may help from a blog post Jonathan Mosen posted
earlier this year.
https://mosen.org/soundsfrustrating

Hi John, Adam's right. The issue manifests itself in several ways. Since
publishing that blog post, I purchased an external sound card for my wife
who is doing radio journalism and got the fuzziness you were talking about.
I would be interested to know if installing Silensio, which I linked to in
that blog post, fixed your issue. It has fixed all Windows audio issues for
me.
I think the function of this little app, to simply hold the sound card open
and send silence to it. Would be a very useful setting to be able to toggle
on in JAWS.

You may need to disable audio enhancements. Here is how to do it.

Disable Audio Enhancements in Windows 10

  1. Click the Windows 10 start button and then type Sound. ...
  2. In the Playback tab, right-click the audio device you would like to disable the audio enhancements for, and then select Properties.
  3. Click on the Enhancements tab to display all the available audio enhancements.

Hi Casey,
Regular startup loads more things than selective startup does.
Whenever you go to startup and uncheck items it switches to selective
startup.
You are fine with it being in selective startup.
I would go into the startup list and try enabling anything that sounds like
it's for video.
However, I would not think that you should need an ATI utility loading on
startup to make the video work right for Jaws.

When a computer starts in 40 minute mode, you don't have to completely stop and then restart the whole system   to get working again.  All that is needed is to stop, then restart JAWS.

To stop and restart JAWS you can do the following.

1. To stop JAWS, hold down the JAWS key and press f4.  If you are asked if you really want to stop JAWS, press yes.

Note, there  will be no speech until JAWS is up and running again.

2. If you have a hot key set up to start JAWS, press it and JAWS should be talking again in a minute or 3.

4.  If you don't have a hot key set up to start JAWS, you can do the following.

Hold down the Windows key and type run.  In the dialog box that appears, type JAWSxxx,

where xxx is 17, 18, 2018, 2019, etc. and press enter and wait for JAWS to start talking.

Hello to my fellow jaws 2019 users.
I was having a serious problem with logging into my paypal account.
Don't know why IE11 wouldn't allow me to use my e-mail and password to log in, and before I closed out the old account it also wouldn't allow me to go to the send item and click on the combo box for person's name, e-mail address and or phone number.
I was able to go into the combo box and jaws confirmed only while typing in the address.
But when I would go to tap my left and or right arrow keys to confirm that I had the e-mail correct, I would hear nothing.
Plus since I couldn't fill out the field, the next button wouldn't allow me to click on it, I could see the next button but since the field wasn't filled in, I couldn't click on the next button.
I tried using both ie 11 and Google to access my paypal account.
Now for some surprising good news.
So, I tried Edge for the heck of it.
It went through like a knife through butter.
The only issue I had and had to have a pp operator help me out with it to confirm my bank since it wasn't in the list and Edge wouldn't allow me to add my bank to the list.
After the PP operator confirmed my bank for me, I was able to ship my fair share to my cousin for a up coming event.
So I still don't have edge as my default browser just yet.
But I need to see how blind friendly it might be with my Role Playing game a little later this afternoon.
So the jury is still out on Edge.
Would anyone have a e-mail for feedback to submit this letter to the MS disability hot line?
Just something for jaws to also know about my frustration and finally my success to make both jaws and edge more blind friendly.
Hope this feedback will help out others and I'll keep everyone in the loop on my progress of using edge with jaws.

I don't know why you've had that issue, but it definitely is not universal.

I just got done, two days ago, logging into my Paypal account; then sent a payment to a friend; and logged back out using IE11 on my Windows 10 computer with Jaws.
For most things, I use Jaws 16.0.4468 because that is the last version to work with Outlook Express.

I occasionally use the newest version of Jaws, but generally don't need to.

I would use it more, but for some reason, when I do, it breaks Jaws16 ability to work with Outlook Express without doing a repair of the older Jaws installation.

I'm speculating here, but that might be due to the fact that when I updated this PC to Windows 10, I installed 19 first before installing 16.

Hi Ron:

Just to let you know, there is a work around for getting to the edit box to type in the recipient field on the 'send' page in PayPal, using internet explorer.

When you come to the combo box of people you have sent money to before, just arrow down to the 'next' button. It will say 'not available', or something like that. Then, just shift tab and you will land right in an edit box to type in a new recipient's name or email or phone.

I'm using JAWS 2019 on win 10 and finding that IE 11 is still the best
browser for me. I've had no luck with Edge.

I don't know why you've had that issue, but it definitely is not universal.

I just got done, two days ago, logging into my Paypal account; then sent a
payment to a friend; and logged back out using IE11 on my Windows 10
computer with Jaws.
For most things, I use Jaws 16.0.4468 because that is the last version to
work with Outlook Express.

I occasionally use the newest version of Jaws, but generally don't need to.

I would use it more, but for some reason, when I do, it breaks Jaws16
ability to work with Outlook Express without doing a repair of the older
Jaws installation.

I'm speculating here, but that might be due to the fact that when I updated
this PC to Windows 10, I installed 19 first before installing 16.

Hello to my fellow jaws 2019 users.
I was having a serious problem with logging into my paypal account.
Don't know why IE11 wouldn't allow me to use my e-mail and password to log
in, and before I closed out the old account it also wouldn't allow me to
go to the send item and click on the combo box for person's name, e-mail
address and or phone number.
I was able to go into the combo box and jaws confirmed only while typing
in the address.

I like IE for Feed reading--the most speech friendly.

Tom,
If you had trouble with Jaws and the install screen, you should start it again and see if the touch cursor will get you through the install.
You can cancel the install just before it starts.
But I think that this would be good for the list to know if the touch screen could be applied here.
