Re: Registry first aid version 11

Simply keeping backups and have a tool like a
talking WinPe and an extra screenreader.
I also always have more than one computer in the
home, so I can research for possible solutions if something isn't
working.

No worries, I have backup images. You say if one uses regular precautions nothing to worry about. What type precautions are you alluding to? Also, do you accept default recommendations or go through and select or deselect?

Some people are scared of electricity too, but if you use regular precautions, all will be fine. I have never seen a system not boot up after using such a tool, but if it concerns you, download one of the talking WinPe tools and burn it to DVD, so you can resort to a recovery. If a program does not work right afterwards, just use the backed up one. Also, if you are concerned that it might affect Jaws, just install NVDA as a backup screenreader. Glenn

Glenn and list,
I downloaded this program and read the instructions and help files. It sounds like it would be real easy to select something to be deleted that shouldn’t be. Do you manually select what you want removed or let the program automatically make suggestions and select them? I get very nervous when doing anything regarding the registry. Comments?

That is the version I'm using. I have only used the GUI version, I did not know that they had a CLI version. Glenn ----- Original Message ----- From: Alan Robbins Sent: Saturday, January 19, 2019 12:41 PM Subject: Re: [jaws-users] Chrome Won't Install
I am reading that the new 11 version is graphical user interface (GUI). Are you on that version and is it compatible with latest version of JAWS?
Wondering if others on this list have had good success with this cleaner as well?

It offers a backup of the registry, so if something causes problems, you can restore it. But I have never had any problems with letting it make the right choices. Glenn ----- Original Message ----- From: Casey Sent: Saturday, January 19, 2019 8:13 AM Subject: Re: [jaws-users] Chrome Won't Install
Hi okay if you run this? Now if you have purchased and and run it how do you know what you need to keep and don't need to keep? I mean what can you safely delete and keep like if you know longer need windows live mail for example. How then to you using this program make sure that you got rid of all of what goes along with that program? And not other stuff that you need for your machine to run?
