Re: A Question about chrome settings

Ok, I’m really tired.  I did find something that said remove by arrowing down after I pressed enter on the more actions button.

But it did not say button, and there was no URL showing anywhere to apply such a button to if it had been labeled as such!  Rubbing ears in frustration  LOL.!.  Where do you get to the addresses?

You should find “remove” after you click on the “More actions” button.

I recommend closing and reopening Chrome before you go through this operation. Then open the webpage you want to be the startup default. Make sure no other pages are open.

Hi Mike,

I sent this off-list to someone else who kindly replied with the same suggestion.

My friend told me she typed in in the add a page, but when she closed chrome and went back into Google, it still came up on the welcome page.

When she arrows down, both the welcome page and are listed.  The latter twice.

I remember seeing an option to remove a page, but I think it was one of those that got there in a way we can’t.

From my playing around with more actions several times, my page has redundancies that I’d love to remove.

Open a specific page or set of pages (checked)

More actions

More actions

More actions

Add a new page

Use current pages

Why can’t they just have an edit box and a set page button?

And if you had multiple pages listed is there a remove button that can be tabbed to.

I only have google listed, but if my friend could remove the welcome page, which I assume is the default, then only the would be left.

I’m too tired probably to be explaining this properly…  Smile.

Hi Rebecca,

Try the following:

When you get to the radio button,  Open a specific page or set of pages, arrow down to, Link add a new page, press enter to open the edit field  to enter a new URL.

Take care.  Go Rams!

I was trying to help a friend set up her chrome.

In the tutorial from a list member, It said:

Next Important heading:

On Start up.

Here is where you put in your URL that you want to show as soon as you start Chrome.

There are three radio buttons to pick from, but I chose to open with a specific page or pages, which is the third radio button.

Under this, you can type in the URL of the web site that you want to open when you start Chrome.

We chose the third button but could not figure out how to enter a web address.

Underneath my checkboxes is the address for google, but JAWS does not list that as being in an edit box.

I set Chrome up so long ago that I can’t remember what I did.

We experimented with the options that followed, more actions, add a new page and use current page, I think it said.  She saw no edit box.

When I google, I find the following directions:

• Open Chrome.

• Click the overflow icon that looks like three vertical dots in the upper right corner.

• Click to open the Settings menu.

• Scroll down and click on Advanced Settings.

• Select Open a specific page or set of pages under On Startup.

• Select Set pages.

list end

Obviously as a keyboard user, I can’t get to that overflow icon as they called it with JAWS and this opens a menu of options not available from the settings menu from the alt key menu.

What are we missing?
