Hi Charles,
Try checking the following with an Office  product like Word or Excel open:
1. Open the system tray, go to the, Speakers, icon and press enter.
2. Navigate to, Open volume mixer, and press enter.
3. Tab through the various settings to make sure that none of them or muted and to check the volume levels.

I am a JAWS 2019 latest build user and my laptop is running WINDOWS 10 (Build 1809).


I am an Office 365 subscriber and have downloaded and installed the suite of Office applications on my computer. I have full desktop versions of WORD, EXCEL, OUTLOOK etc, as I know that versions, procured from the App Store, do not work well with JAWS.


My issue is that, despite turning on Sounds, within the “Ease Of Access” section of app settings and setting the sound type to “Modern”, I do not hear any system sounds within the applications, for example, when changing folders within OUTLOOK. My overall Volume setting within WINDOWS 10 and, in particular, for System Settings, is at 100% I also do not have any issue hearing JAWS itself.


Has anyone came across this issue and, if so, can you please suggest any possible solutions? I had the Office Sounds working perfectly on my old laptop, running exactly the same operating system and the same JAWS build and I also have it running fine on my work machine, running the same version of JAWS, along with WINDOWS 7.


Any thoughts please?
