7000s and even 706 Mk II Gs still ringing
a pretty suprisingly good premium .

I would say that 500 is a really good price
(for the buyer)!

I couldn't resist.

The ICOM IC-7000...

Past, present, and future it remains a remarkable, one-of-a-kind transceiver, nothing comparable from any other manufacturer to this day.

Truly, a "Shack in a Box".

PS: the comparison between the IC-7000 and the IC-7300 does not stand up. They're two different animals. Is anyone going mobile with their IC-7300? Probably not.

I have had three of them and enjoyed each.
Two I bought from an estate sale and they were Click - Click dead and I was able to fix one, bought another one as a spare and then was able to fix the third with a donor dead front panel that was repairable.
For the time I used these radios they provided great service and are absolutely beautiful radios.
A few problems and replacing a driver and other trouble issues along the way and the decreasing availability of replacement parts led me to sell (slowly) and buy an IC-7300.
The last one was sold to finance buying an IFR FM/AM 1200 Super S communications monitor.
So I am IC-7000less and I still miss them! I should have kept at least one of them, but I may get over it.
The IC-7000s are getting a little long in the tooth but are still a beautiful radio and a new one might be worth $1200 to the right buyer. I suggest advertising on Ebay to find that buyer.

You don't  but ham radio's for investment purposes..

Last spring, at Claremore (Oklahoma State ARRL Convention) I bought a IC-7000 as close to "New in Box" as there is.. The guy was at the table next to me.. As the 2 day swap progressed his price came down and my sales progressed to where about 2 hours before the show was over and all the crowds had waned. $500 was the final price. Now-some will say I wore him out. Not so, 3000-4000 people had a chance to buy it before me.  I have one all ready in my car. But having a backup is a good thing. Saves taking a big box radio somewhere like POTA-SOTA or some vacation. I hate learning new menus and setups.. etc.

I've sold many things at hamfests over the years and have dealt with all kinds of buyers. I never was insulted by a low bid. I usually tell them something like "I'm packing up a 2PM. Come back at 1:45 and we can talk". If they try to browbeat me into the offer they make I usually start to raise my price until they get the hint to leave.

Exactly right, but a NIB IC-7000 is worth about $800 which is still less than an an IC-7300.

But a new IC7300 has a warranty.  Since you say your 7K is NIB, has it ever been powered up and checked out?
Are you certain it has no infantile failures?

Blasphemy but a Yaesu 991A is just a little more and has all the bands as well as a more modern receiver. With a warrantee.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my IC7000

991A is a heck of a lot bigger, no removable face and isn't mobile friendly..

The 7000 is a pretty unique radio and can fill several niches.

Perhaps you meant the Yeasu FT-891, which is similar in size to the IC-7000. I owned an FT-891 for a while, and there are many features about that rig that make it very desirable. Unfortunately, at least in my opinion, its user interface is not one of them. When I had the opportunity to buy an IC-7000 from an estate sale, I jumped on it and have never looked back. None of the menu-driven rigs are especially user-friendly, but at least the IC-7000  user interface is not that different from my former IC-706MkIIG and my still current IC-703, so at least there's less head-scratching when I want to dig deeper than the first level of menus.
