Besides Icom, where's the best place to send a sick IC7000 for repair these days?

My contacts have all quit due to retirement.  Best chance is to call Icom and talk to their technical team and find out who is working on ICOM after warrenty.
Good luck  Ken

A "general ham transceiver" repair shop is :

B & H Sales & Service
707 N Baltimore Ave
Derby,KS  67037

(316) 788-4225

All are hams, the main tech CARL even works on Service monitors. He was a tech rep at IFR back in the day. All the guys there are personal friends of mine both on and off the air. They support all the local clubs, and it's not unusual to find people in the store from Tulsa, Kansas City and Oklahoma City.

The big problem is many parts in ICOMS now are made with unobtainum, so do not expect a fast turn around, no matter who you use. Especially chips and certain transistors (power types) . I repaired a IC-211 2 meter all mode the other day, and the encoder would only move the VFO up in frequency..
You can no longer get the encoder or the chip the the encoder sends it's signals to. Fortunately it was a bad solder connection,   The owner had tried to have it repaired at the other Ham Radio store in Kansas (hint Overland Park) to no avail.

I own 2- 7000's. One has been in my car since I bought the car in 2013.. I have 129,000 miles of mobile HF under my belt. I use a AH4 in the trunk with Hustler antenna and only 2 resonators. 40-20.. With the AH4 it covers 80-6 meters..

Good luck with your adventure...

I can "Highly" recomend SARS in Mi., extremely good organization, repaired and updated (hardware) in my IC-7000, and very reasonable pricing too. Matt kept me in the repair loop every step along the way.
