Yes, you have to select the straight key #3 setting after clicking  the QS (QUICK SET UP) grouping.  Turn off QS menu and you plug in your key with a ¼”phono plug.  The 7000 radio is scary at first, but I found using it with the Ham Radio Deluxe  opens up the operating experience to a comfortable level for operating in a legacy hands on manner.  I have two 7K’s and am very happy with them.

Joe,

When I go through the setup in my IC7000 I can select either of the 3 modes mentioned by rotating the main dial.

The way I read the manual it simply says the three modes are available and that ELEC-KEY is the Default.

Can't seem to get the 7000 to operate correctly on CW with a straight key.
Manual:  using pgs 49-50, I can only see 'ELEC-KEY' available under '5 keyer type' (p50).
What am I missing?
I may be too old for this radio.
Any suggestion appreciated.
