Just saying, for a few bucks, you can get a 3.5mm to RCA adapter and not have to cut, solder, destroy, the HDMI to RCA cable...

Going to snip off the yellow plug and fit a 3.5mm mono plug , on the new last year external monitor i use VGA from the laptop (its old) but the monitor also has a HDMI input that one can switch over too .
