Could I ask those of you using a Signalink USB with your IC-7000 to weigh in on the 6-pin vs. 13-pin question? (I am already aware of the mic muting issue.)

I would lean towards the 6 pin
Easier to obtain
Easier to solder larger pins
Interchange, Cable is compatible with other brands/models
13 pin jack is available for other uses, amplifier keying
