I hear audio in the speaker when transmitting
Hi, I checked the voltage on the accessory molex(4pin tuner) , on the back of the radio, and noticed a difference between reception and transmission of 1 volt. Trying at max power in FM the voltage passes from 13.72 (RX) to 12.70 (TX). It's to normal 1v drop? Thank you

The mic lead had a open shield at its connector, so fault was the in the mic lead not the radio. On Sun, 8 Jan 2023, 08:39 , <marco.lafranca@...> wrote: Hi Jeff, |

No, the radio is original, no mods.

no, the radio is original, no modifications. I was wondering what should I check regarding the TR relay On Sat, Jan 7, 2023 at 12:26 AM, Brian (N2MLP) wrote: Has this radio been modified |

i'm using the original ic706 mic, i haven't tried another mic. I tried plugging it into the back connector as well but it's the same. Was your problem inside the microphone or on the connector? thanks

Have you tried another mic?
I've had rf getting into a mic during Tx due to a bad shielding connection. Geoff |

That is no welds
Check that the circuit is blocking the rec.

Hi guys, thank you all for your replies.
@Hugh: My radio is a 706mkiig, it shouldn't have the monitor functionality. @davebb: I haven't tried the data socket yet. Now I also write in the other forum. @Brian, @davebb Regarding the T/R relay (RL1 on the filter board?), what kind of checks should I do on the circuit? do you check the welds? check its driver Q1? or other? thank you @Rick Robinson: I've already done some checks on the screws, masses and cables. Which card in particular should I check? |

Even though this is an IC-7000 group, the radio in question is an IC-706MKiiG so it can't be that. Hi, Thank you davebb123456 for your hint. Today I was able to test the radio with a dummy load. The problem manifests itself the same way as the antennas I tested. I am attaching an example video. So can it be ruled out that it is RF getting back into the radio?
Any other ideas?
Thank you.

My suggestion is to open the radio and snug, not over tighten, the circuit board mounting board screws and check all ribbon cables for full and square insertion. I took the extra step and used exact size star washers for a proper “bite”. This step will certainly not hurt anything if done carefully. It helped a audio problem I had with my 706MK2G that I ran mobile. On Fri, Jan 6, 2023 at 2:41 PM davebb123456 <davidbrowne76@...> wrote:

Hi Marco This is very loud and clear I would now say it is not RF getting back to the radio, You do not hear FM because of the way it is modulated, Try and have a look at the TX/RX switching, what happens if you use the data socket, also have you asked in the 706 forums? I can see it now, thanks. It sounds very like the MONITOR feature (as in the IC-7000) but I don't think that is a feature in the IC-706 line. Very weird. Hi try putting a 50ohm dummy load on the radio and see if it still is happening, if it is not it is RF getting back into the radio, Try a common mode choke on the coax at the antenna and if you still have it one at the radio end, Dave On Wed, 28 Dec 2022, 19:25 , <marco.lafranca@...> wrote:

Hi everyone,
i am having the same problem with my icom 706mk2g. The problem of the audio emitted by the speaker in TX occurs on all bands, mainly in AM and a little in SSB, and grows by increasing the RF power. However, it does not appear on FM. Tried checking grounds on all boards (loosening and tightening screws and securing contact points with outer case), but no fix. Is the only way to mute the speaker? Also I noticed that toroidal inductor L174 makes a loud hum on AM.
Thank you. |
