Getting Old (hi hi)
Steve, The IC-705 and 7300 do have the same screen, but the front on the 705 is smaller. There is a lot to like about the 705 over the 7300. 73, Jack W9JH

Getting Old (hi hi)
My wish is a 100w radio with a 705 type front panel and a remote chassis, similar to the 7100 form factor but updated! I have a 7000 and 7100. The above dream machine could replace both for my use. 73

Icom 7000 & output power
You run the risk of damaging the radio by adjusting the factory settings to increase the power beyond what it's designed for. I have owned a IC-7000 since new for over seven years and always get 100W

Price seems high. I and many others have purchased brand new 7000's including the remote mounting items for less than $1200. Good luck & 73, Jack W9JH

[IC-7000] DSTAR
DON'T sell your IC-7000 until you compare it to the IC-7100, unless D-Star is all you are interested in. The four (yes 4) IC-7100's I had all exhibited low talk power on SSB (60-65W compared to 95-100

What is the Best choice for a linear amp for the 7000?
You might consider an ICOM 2KL which is compact, 500W and auto band switching when connected to any ICOM HF radio. I have two of them at two locations and they work great. 73, Jack W9JH ---In ic7000@y

[IC-7000] RE: IC 7000 upgrade
I have an IC-7000 and bought a 7100 which I sold after a few weeks...kept the 7000. The 7100 only put out 60W peak on SSB compared to 100W on the 7000 using the same power supply, dummy load and LP-10
