PL tone missing from Data port
Neither, you wouldn't want a tone superimposed on a high speed data stream. With 1200 baud data the tones are well above subaudible, so not an issue. Another consideration is few (any?) voice repeater

PL tone missing from Data port
That means you're not using 9600 baud data, probably AFSK packet or other soundcard data mode. So that translates you're not bound to using a data port. If you go in through the mic jack you should be

low power out on HF
Possible only if you connect your radio negative lead to the battery negative terminal, which is bad installation practice. Which I guess is one reason to keep the fuse, to protect people from themsel

Current drain while off
I recall when I measured my Icom 706 it was on the order of a milliamp. I'm not next to my 7000 to measure it but I suspect it's similarly "not much". A switch won't hurt but I suspect it won't solve

Who wants to compare PCB'S
Not the least of which is any differences in inner layers. Often the bottom layer and areas of the top layer are chassis ground or groundplane and may not change at all or very little across revisions

Chirp and ICOM7000
I've used CHIRP with my 7000 but I recall it can only read/write just one of the channel banks. Better than nothing but I still ended up getting RT Systems to manage the 7000. Mark K5LXP Albuquerque,

First demo of the TFT Touch screen demo of the ATAS-100/120 Controller for ICOM
Just an opinion of a ~20 year user of an ATAS antenna: If I could build the ideal controller for it, there would be no display. I don't want another box I have to mount, run cables to, then watch and

Low Input Voltage in Mobile
From: Dan Fisher AI4GK <ai4gk@...> You really need to verify the voltage at the back of the radio. It is spec'd to operate down to 11.75 volts, and it's not hard to have a 2V drop though thin w

From: Richard <wile2u@...> Ah, I missed the post about "testing" by removing a battery cable. I wouldn't be too concerned about the "diodes" in the alternator but all the other connected systems

From: Bob Rodgers <kc4tvo@...> What is the failure mode? This is the first I've heard of it. It certainly isn't due to the tepid draw of a mobile radio. Mark K5LXP Albuquerque, NM

Where is and how to replace the coin sized memory battery inside the IC-7000
From: k4pwo <k4pwo@...> Can't speak to the 7000 specifically but on other equipment I've replaced the battery I just cut the tabs on the existing cell and solder the tabs of the new battery on
