Re: restarting
That 3 volt drop is probably much more that is so quick you cannot see it and enough to drop out the radio.
If you are measuring at the 13.8 volt point on the tuner plug it would be a good indication

Re: restarting
Started the truck no restart on the radio. Checked voltage when I key up it drops 3vdc. This pulles a lot more than what I took out. Of course maybe not so bad, at least I won't run my battery down

Re: restarting
As others have said, this may be the supply voltage problem. If you are doing this and a vehicle and the engine is not running, try it with the engine running.

Can I be the first one, if not join others that suggest to check/clean your in line fuses on your power cable, also checking that your power supply is up to the task.

Re: restarting
It is common for radios to restart like that if the power source drops below the required voltage. Be sure you have a large enough power supply.

Just got a new ic 7000 installed don't have the HD antenna attached, but the vhf/uh is. While in vhf mode I key up, the radio shuts down and restarts. Is this caused by tmnot having a HD antenna

Re: modding the Driver board , so it does not fry,
Per the tuner statement, I lost a driver when I had an auto tuner go crazy when an antenna was connected incorrectly (wrong antenna!).
This is the only time I had a driver issue on one of my IC-7000

Re: modding the Driver board , so it does not fry,
I haven't seen many driver board failures personally (I typically only repair 7K's for local hams over the past 15 years, so I don't see a lot of units). I have looked into the driver's design and

Dave,
Glad it fixed your 7K's UHF problem. It's always good to know there are still hams motivated to repair their equipment.
Hopefully you'll do the other UHF TX power adjustments now that the idle

Re: modding the Driver board , so it does not fry,
The IT-100 when connected via the tuning cable sets the output power to 10 watts while tuning via the tune button.
Granted, it is possible to tune at full power manually.
While not a perfect

Re: modding the Driver board , so it does not fry,
The driver board is a definite weak spot. I've blown a couple up over the years. The best solution I have found is to always use a good auto tuner like the LDG IT-100, even when using a resonate
